Chinese actors and actresses work hard lol!

Omg China is really beautiful! it’s so big and every city has its only flavor. I’ve only been to a few but Chengdu is one of the cities on my visit list.

Same for me, it just barely budged LLTG out of number 1! For such a simple story, it’s says a lot.

Although I’m not a fan, Xiao Zhan is classically handsome and looks exceptionally good in costume. I couldn’t get into Untamed but heard he did really well there.

I just couldn’t get into it because it just seems overdone. Also, the FL kind of made it difficult for me to continue. Her visuals and acting is just not great.

Imo - yes. it’s much better. Everything from chemistry, acting, visuals, story, cast (EVERY SINGLE ONE), styling are all better than WIFTY.

I literally dropped 4 dramas because I couldn’t get into it - I can’t move on! Longest Promise, Destined, Legend of Anle and Yang Yang’s fireman drama all dropped.

If you love watching romcom - this is for you. If you’re into more complicated, intricate storylines maybe not. This drama is so good but it really depends on what you like!

Yes exactly. WIFTY was fine but it’s like any other highschool drama for me. I thought the whole cast from HL had so much more chemistry as well and it’s aimed for a slightly more mature audience.

I was actually excited to watch WIFTY after finishing HL because it’s by the same author. I got up to episode 6 and while cute, I didn’t see anything too special about it. It reminded me of A Love So Beautiful with a stoic ML and bubbly (borderline stalker) FL chasing after him. Maybe it’s the timing for me as well because I just dropped another drama with a FL constantly chasing after the ML (A Date With the Future) and just need a break from that storyline. WIFTY is now currently on the back burner.

She’s darling!

ZLS is one of the few Chinese actresses that can do both ancient and modern dramas imo. Most of the time I find actresses super corny in modern dramas but she’s stylish, fresh and fun.

I think for some viewers the high school years felt longer than it should be because they had to cut 5 episodes out. From what I see, most of the cut scenes were of them adulting. It’s really a shame because some of the scenes looked pretty darn good.

I thought that Lusi’s portrayal of a shy young girl with a crush was on point! I’ve seen too many dramas lately where girls literally “rip their their face off” (Cantonese saying) chasing a guy so this was a welcomed change. I also like that she knew when to give up on her crush - when she thought he had a gf. However, everyone feels differently so I see how some might think she needs to be more confident.

They didn’t say but I see that they were next to each other during the beach scene and were not uncomfortable. Maybe it worked out or maybe they just remained good friends. I’m okay with either!

Tough crowd!

In my opinion, the high rating is due to it being the most well made modern cdrama.

Chemistry - 🔥. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more chemistry between leads.

Story - Although simple, it works in the best way possible. It resonated with a lot of the viewers and is achingly sweet. A lot of pillows were harmed.

Styling - The clothing, hair and aesthetics just make sense. I don’t know if you watch modern cdramas but most of the time, I’m too busy wondering what they were smoking when they picked the outfits for the leads.

Visuals - Totally shallow but the leads look great. Their smiles can light up any room! When they hug, I didn’t feel like the ML would break ZLS in half.

Other things like acting, OST, supporting actors and cinematography were also outstanding but mainly, it’s how it made its audiences feel. Such a feel good drama, it’s no wonder it’s highly rated.

If we are talking about the same YouTuber, she’s has absolutely no idea what she’s talking about. All the things she ranted about were false and she had followers blindly agreeing with her. I’m not even talking about her opinions because however warped, it’s her opinion. There were things she had huge problems with that simply did not happen in the drama OR the novel. Then she makes a video looking all tired and concerned about the influences this drama will have on kids - what a joke. I think every teenager should watch this drama because there’s so many life lessons in it.

Not only that! The FL acted like she’s 12 and kept calling the ML ahjussi while the mature looking Gong Yoo did look like her ahjussi! Not to mention he “died” mid thirties and she’s 19!? Come on.

Episode 8-15 is gold! It brought me back to when I was that young with butterflies.

Yes! Imperial Coroner and a few romcoms that were pretty bad tbh. It wasn’t his fault though because story was meh and the FL very cringy lol.

I think he is a promising actor and he does micro expressions pretty well. He just needs to find his script and a good female lead. Lusi might be the one to bring something more out of him.
