Fully agree. Some of the best dramas from last year were 24 eps. Only a few that went past that to 30 or 36 maintained the quality and momentum.

24 and 36 are the new standards for Cdrama since they were restricted to 40 max episodes.
Actually 24 episodes can give you a tight dramatic arc without saggy episodes that only extend the length without adding value to the drama. And since it's a wuxia as opposed to xianxia or straight historical, they don't have to do too much world building for it to work.

I made a post on your feed showing what your main page looks like from my end. Is there some way to add thumbnails for the 6 missing episodes and put the thumbnails in order from 1-24? I'm not familiar with how that site works, so I don't know how it would be done.

This is pretty low-key for romance, though .... right now it's not interfering much with the story line. And if we're being serious, there's going to be at least some romance in life.... it's a natural part of the human existence.
As long as they keep it focused on "fighting for my person of interest" I don't care if it's romantic or platonic.
Just hope they don't get too "ooey-gooey" with the plot.

They really need a different name for this kind of thing. It really doesn't seem to fit the definition of xuanhuan.

Saw somewhere a description of it as "new-age" wuxia .... but I've also seen it described as "high wuxia" i.e. wuxia with some elements of xianxia.

I could totally see him becoming emperor in the end, just for the h*ll of it, then giving it all up to retire into relative obscurity.

It's a huge cast with many, many actors representing the best of the various generations.... part of what is making this a really good watch.
And yeah, no real expectation of a season 2 with this.
