Peter Ho said he is friends with the producer for 10 years. When they went for a meal, the producer talked about the plan to film this drama and about Murong Gaogong. Peter casually said "Let me do it". And so he got the role 😂 I'm glad he did bcs Idk another actor suitable as Murong Gaogong.

I previously wrote about these 2 points weeks ago, but after watching his interview, I was like "Yes bro!" 🤣
1. Murong Gaogong is actually a very simple character. For him, Yinlou is the light in his life, his motivation to live. Also the reason he started making lanterns. It's clearly shown throughout the drama. When his only reason to live is gone, it's obvious what happens next.
2. Some people call him fat emperor. I think the opposite after I saw bts video of him. Wow! He actually has a nice body and defined muscles, just like other gym person. Peter said he intentionally made himself look fat by having the clothes fluffier, bending his back, even ate a lot to have chubbier cheeks. So he looks harmless and rounder. It's easy to do it since hanfu is layer after layer.

I'll give more details if you like.
1. It is happy ending, but you have to watch the extended ending and extra story to complete the ending in actual episode. You can watch those on the discussion post by Lan_Lan above the comment box.
2. The emperor is the love rival. He loves FL and wants to make her his empress. ML falls first in ep 5 and starts to feel jealous in ep 6. However there is no misunderstanding! It's only cute jealousy 🤭
3. Excuse me, but slow burn in general means a state of slowly mounting anger or annoyance 😅 but I know what you mean. ML falls first so his changes in feelings are visible. For FL once she suspects he likes her, she starts teasing him. Bcs of their status, they can't bluntly confess. Starting ep 10 their romance blooms and it only get sweeter from ep 14.
4. There are 2 other couples, but their stories don't interrupt the main couple.
5. The main couple is passionate, wild, flirty and bold in showing their love. Probably the wildest and lustful couple in historical drama 😂 The kiss... To tell you the truth, there is 17 kiss in this drama. However due to the censorship, only 4 kisses appear on actual episodes 😭 The intimate scenes have been deleted, however the staff and iqiyi uploaded them. Please do check the discussion post by Lan_Lan above.

Like I said, due to censorship this drama got heavily butchered especially the intimate scenes. However, it doesn't ruin the main couple's love and chemistry. There's a lot of skinship and flirting bcs they are definitely not shy!

His brother was murdered so in order to get revenge he took his brother's identity. Bcs his brother was an eunuch, he has to take medication to prevent hormonal symptoms.

1. Actually the leads were suspicious of each other since the start bcs of their personalities which don't trust people easily. However they don't have any misunderstanding bcs they know each other so well. Even when they get mad it doesn't last long. There is breakup bcs of the condition, but the next scene will be back to comedy as they still think of each other. The aftermath isn't painful and the breakup only lasts 1 ep 😂

2. The emperor/Murong Gaogong loves FL and keeps pursuing her to make her his empress. He doesn't know she loves another man or that she has no intention to be his empress. Don't worry, the main couple love each other deeply and their love doesn't sway.

3. Yes Prince Rong died just like that.

The drama already spilled the truth in ep 2 that Xiao Duo has to take medication bcs he is a fake eunuch.

The whole scene in West Shu (Tianfeng Water pavilion) at least 1 episode long based on the leaked videos.
But how can we watch the HK version? I mean surely drama sharing sites won't upload the same drama, right?

If you watch it for the first time, you might only notice the very obvious ones (i.e sudden change is music, sudden change in pose). If you watch the trailers and watch the drama, you'll notice some scenes are gone. Once you rewatch, it's easier to notice the cuts. They already cut a few scenes from eps 2. Then eps 5, they also cut a lot of scenes after they arrived at West Shu (after eps 14), then eps 19-20, eps 25-26. They mostly cut the intimate scenes. however it doesn't change the passion between the couple. We still have A LOT of romance and sugar.

Totally worth watching if you:
-like smart, cunning, bold, brave who fights the bullies FL
-like scheming, smart, strong ML
-like passionate and fluffy romance
-like when the ML falls first
-like an unpredictable plot
-like comedy
-like a lighter drama
-like a smart couple

Wait. Teacher-student drama gets tighter review? That means Chongzi will get butchered? And why a modern romcom got a 2 eps worth cut?

It's not on weibo isn't it? It's not the staff fault the scenes got cut. If it wasn't bcs of the censorship, the drama would be fully released. The censorship really went too far with this drama. It finally passed the censorship the third time and as the result, the staff deleted too many scenes. Even some scenes on the trailer didn't appear on actual episodes. However they are generous enough to share the deleted scenes bcs the actors and the staff worked so hard and knew the viewers deserve to see it. People should remember not to blame the UL staff, but the censorship.

The ones who uploaded the deleted scenes are the UL staff, even iqiyi themselves. They were pissed too with the censorship.

Bcs it's too hot, wild, passionate, and so on 🤣 Also we could see that it's Yinlou who initiated the kiss. For those old folks, women aren't supposed to be proactive 😒

I think this scene is where Xiao Duo gathered his men before rescuing Prince Rong. Bcs they hang white cloth and they tied white cloths on their belt.
