1. The love triangle is only by status. The SML loves FL, but he wants her to be happy even if it's not with him. He supports her with the man she loves and he didn't really confess his feelings.

Then 100 years later they reunited, but FL tried to push him away bcs she has responsibilities and she thought the ML only wanted to make up for his past mistakes (and there's another reason). But they have mutual understanding.
5. FL's sister, but only for a few episodes. It's not severe. The others support the couple, even the SML.

The reason why I can't hate Bai Lin is bcs she truly loves Bai Ying. Even though she hates Su Mo, she can't win against her sister's kindness and only wants Bai Ying to be happy. I teared up a bit there. Poor kid.

I'm curious about Yu Huan's background. The drama hasn't revealed it, has it? Is he really a Kong Sang royalty?

Su Nuo is handsome, but pathetic. He came and got blasted numerous times. He even lost to Bai Ying's slap 😅 his character felt anticlimactic. I wanted to see him get the Mirror Technique and fight Su Mo who has the dragon power in the last battle though.

Su Nuo's sole purpose is to make Su Mo gains Dragon God's power 🙄 I thought he would stick to the end and fight to end their unfinished business. It was too short. Having Yu Huan as the final boss is ridiculous. Yu Huan should go down first, then Su Nuo and finally Lang Gan.

Me too prefer a mature or smart female lead. Smart FL won't get bullied nor fooled. I like if FL has her own opinions and fights for her loved ones (either with brain or sword), not just waiting for prince charming to rescue. Anyway if you really became a fan of Yuqi, I suggest to watch The Love Lasts Two Minds. There's no chemistry with the ML, but she played 3 characters perfectly. Also, the ongoing Memory of Encaustic Tiles. It's a modern drama, super fluffy and warm. The chemistry is great. Mystery of Antiques 3 is also great, but it's raw. You might have watched Ashes of Love or Heavenly Sword Dragon Slaying Saber. If you haven't, HSDSS is the role that rose her to stardom.

Even in real world, no one can be happy when they are imprisoned, or knowing they're about to die. The merman are prisoners, the six lords are sacrificial lambs. Not every drama starts with " they know they're going to die". In other xianxia or xuanhuan, the leads don't know their future, so they could live at ease. Even if they die, they will reincarnated or resurrected in the middle (unless it's sad ending). Bai Ying has changed from the first 10 eps. She's more fierce in her words and able to say her minds. Also, actually chinese viewers like Bai Ying and Su Mo. Both of them are in the top 10 favorite characters.

Yes, Su Mo and Bai Ying are hard to portray. Previously they attacked Li Yifeng too and I'm sad. This drama is meant to be a gloomy and heartbreaking one, almost no comedy, with no clear ending. Some characters died like flies. Not just the leads, all the merman are so tense, they barely show any emotions, not even Yan Xi.

Based on the trailer for ep 43, the goddess said Su Mo has changed his destiny (from the ones Na Sheng divined for him at ep 1). So we might, just might, have a HE.

Wow they're back to Shanghai! The chinese version actually more eager to continue with the series than the korean ver 😆

Which one do you mean? Youku released Yuqi and Lin Yi couple pictures. I'm hoping there's a couple shoot with Li Yifeng since the drama is popular. But it's the last week for MTC yet there's no sign of it 😭 I'm jealous bcs even dramas or movies that haven't aired or still ongoing have their leads do couple pictorial shoot, but Yuqi never had one 😭

Some people said how bad Yuqi is. I love how Chen Yuqi isn't a one dimensional actress who only takes the same type of character all the time. Bai Ying is quite similar to her role as A Yuan (TLLTM) but harder. Bai Ying has her life, voice, future and freedom being taken away from her. She almost married to someone she doesn't love. She had to live a life as an obedient princess. Now as one of the six lords, she lost yet another future, carrying the fate of a whole nation. She is destined to lose her life, will not be able to reincarnate, will not have a future with the man she loves. How one can be happy and carefree? This drama is about people whose life and freedom being taken from them. The merman also suffered like Bai Ying. They can't smile, they are prisoners. Imagine if Su Mo, Ning Liang, Yan Xi, Xiao, etc act like Na Sheng who has no worries. Su Mo and Bai Ying are hard characters to portray bcs of their backgrounds. Unlike Zhen Lan who was already a carefree person, but became more serious.

Bcs the cdrama tends to have long episodes and it will be boring and draggy. So they decided to change the number of episodes to 40 eps, if possible.

Well, I guess when your life, future, and freedom are taken away from you, with the fate of whole nation in your shoulders, you have to stay happy and carefree all the time. Just like Na Sheng. That means the merman should be happy too, not stressed and gloomy.

I think it's around ep 26-27 bcs it's before they start dating.
