Sadly the first 5 eps are so badly edited so it doesn't make sense. Starting from ep 6 it starts to get better. Historical dramas tend to be slow pace, this is one of them, but it has fewer eps so it'll be quick.

I did my own calculation based of Shao Xue's hairstyle 😂 anyway they had their final exams and Zhang Qi was appointed to competition class, Shao Xue got new classmates are the signs they became 2nd grade. The stage play happened in autumn. The drama started around summer 2002, then in ep 18 it's said "march", it means we're in year 2004 🤔 It's my calculation, I might be wrong.

She fulfilled her promise to call him "ge" bcs he succeeded in his study. The others are more casual, as they please.
