ML doesn't have sister in the novel. The drama writer added this character solely to be paired with Wuxia, for romance purpose. Just like you and some others, we hate this sister.
Ever since the booting ceremony, I already disliked it. Disappointed and threw away my expectations. Seeing a lot of new characters while the novel characters are not there felt like a back stab. Seems like the drama writer wanted the ML to be the center story instead of the FL.
Like you said, it would've been better if they follow the novel with a better writing. Qingying's sole purpose is to be Wuxia's love interest 😒
They should've kept Qian Baimei, Xu Yangui, Consort Lan as the way they are. Kept the plot that Wuyin is deeply in love with Taohua or how Wuxia is deeply connected with Taohua. The drama doesn't do justice to Wuxia and Taohua's relationship.
Let's just hope from the middle part is good bcos I believe it will be around the time Taohua leaves Zaiye.

Shen Zaiye plans to shoot himself to frame the crown prince, but Taohua takes the shot instead. It's the same with the novel. Why would FL kill ML? She wants to survive and helps her brother, and the only way is to cooperate with ML.
The novel does not have good reviews. Probably better they made significant changes to it.
Totally agree! The writing is weak, but the plot twist and characters are soooo good! Totally loving the relationships of the characters. I guess the drama writer didn't want the story to focus on Taohua.

Truth is: Wuxia is NOT Wei prince, but Wu prince who replaced the real Wei prince hostage who died young. Zaiye saw his quality and vowed to make him the emperor of Wei.
Thus they embarked on journey to Wei and slowly strengthen their positions. Zaiye is scheming and manipulative. He eliminates 2 princes and kills the emperor. Therefore only the 4th prince can be the emperor.
His plan would not be smooth if not bcos Taohua helps Zaiye. Bcos Taohua already knew early on they are from Wu and the actual master and servant.

I wrote based on the novel. Even Zaiye admits the person she cares the most is her brother. She doesn't think twice about leaving Zaiye and chooses her brother. Zaiye becomes furious, but he doesn't blame her.
