#1. Full House Take Two- It is ridiculous, cheesy and everyone has bad hair. Still, I HEART this drama. No Min Woo gets extra points for still managing to be hot with his god-awful hair.
#2. Anything with Jiro Wang- Everyone knows the guy can't act to save his life, even he knows. Every drama he's in, he plays a hot, doofy guy without much brains. Yet, no matter how ridiculous a story is or how silly his character is, I always enjoy watching him on screen.
#3. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon- Omo! This adaption is soooo bad! The acting is cringe worthy, the very low budget couldn't be more obvious and the sudden overdramatics in the final half of the drama are totally wtf? Still, as a huge Sailor Moon fan, I still have endearing feelings for it. I especially enjoyed the Dark Mercury arc.
Personally, I liked Paradise Kiss movie adaption better than the anime and manga, and not solely for the ending. Ai Yazawa has a tendency to turn a really good story gloomy and depressing near the late middle to end. I LOVED the Nana manga and anime, but it turned really, really emo too, almost like a whole other story. My opinion is that she gets stuck and loses her creative muse about halfway through and just tries too hard, making her stories over dramatic and dark or depressive. Also, she was working on both Nana and Paradise Kiss at the same time, so maybe doing that burned her out, hence the dark turns in both mangas. Last I heard, she had put Nana on hiatus, but that like a few years ago so maybe she's picked it back up. I haven't checked.
The producers of the Paradise Kiss movie changed the ending, yeah, but they changed the whole atmosphere of the story, too. Some would argue that was a bad thing, but I found it more enjoyable to watch. Joji had more depth in the manga, yes, but I found him a lot more likable in the movie. I just think the movie made the story more approachable, which is what a lot of adaptions do. That's a good thing, because a lot of mangas start off good but then take a complete 180° and/or turn into a hot mess.
@Raincat: Seriously. Watch Bunraku. It's a Hollywood movie, but it's actually done right. Gackt blew me away in that movie. There is such a HUGE difference between his acting in that and his acting in Time Spiral.
Gackt is an amazing actor. If you see Bunraku or Moonchild, you can truly see his talent. With this...I have no idea what happened. The only excuse I can think of is that I think he is also touring for his play Moon Saga and possibly that contributed to him looking and acting like the walking dead.
The only one I've seen so far is Lee Jun Kai. It is a tragedy, and many people probably won't like it due to the main character's violent abuse towards his wife. However, I found myself unable to drop it, even though the character of Lee Jun Kai was so horrible. Why? Peter Ho. I found myself mesmerized by him while at the same time totally disgusted by his actions. That right there, to me, says something. Had this not been a web drama and had been full length, I think it would have been better, because there is so much in the way of character emotions and background story that were missing. I wouldn't recommend it everyone, it's gritty and very emotionally disturbing, but even so. Peter Ho is excellent here.
