I do understand. It's not ideal, I agree and it was really cringe with the dad. I just think that, compared to everything else I've seen so far, it was portrayed better. My hope is that it opened up a door so maybe more and better ones can be made, that show trans chars and stories in a more realistic, serious abd respectful light. So far, I haven't seen it, but I still hope. Thanks for the reply!

I also get your point but I also understand that is a completely different culture. The fact is, this drama was damn brave in even addressing being trans at all. Find me another serious drama anywhere in Asia with a trans main, or even a trans storyline, that doesn't mock or make the trans character the comic relief. Itawan Class from Korea does it ok for a side character, but are there anymore? This drama shows a big leap. It also doesn't completely gloss over the whole process, like with the illness from the harmone therapy or showing some scenes about the surgery. Put it in perspective, please. Thailand may seem more open to trans people, but it is still Asia and still deeply rooted in tradition. Maybe think about it some more and with those points in mind, give it another chance.
