Shallow ? Not sure at all....
I will speak as a writer....
Yeah many informations come from details, some words, actions, attitude at specific moments towards specific characters, not from the obvious picture at first glance.
It's not simple if you are not used to that kind of reading. I admit many drama today look to have a "simplier" with many "shortcut reading" way of access. But this one is like unfolding many tiny truths to find the biggest one and not sure this biggest truth does concern the characters but more the way we see them and ourselves through them. As human, from wich one are we the closest ? ... and why do we feel that way ? A good story will lead you to such inner debate.
It's like reading paintings. Beauty of the picture enlight the meaning behind.
I have the book "A Chinese bestiary, strange creatures from the Guideways through mountains and seas" so I can tell that even the choice made with the creatures they took is very specific and hint things.
You need to take the time to understand and I think waiting for the last episode for a full opinion about the story will be wise. As we have many come back and forth during specific moments.
The biggest philosophical idea behind the story for now, beyond love/friendship, is to make us question about what is a monster ? And what is a human ? Because with the latest episodes we can really ask ourselves this question, and that the biggest point of this story.
So not shallow while some dialogues may seem irrelevant they put light on the feelings they have for each other beyond turbulent past to maybe overcome their fate.
"Shallow" is a bit "too much" I think for such story yet...

Maybe they will tell us "it was just a dream" at the end x)

But maybe he did some funny things in the past who know, he looks so he could have done it aha :p

The scene behind the curtain was very funny. Porsche is really a child but also very adult, we can see it when he talk to Big after that scene. Their looks, about Kinn and Porsche are really obvious. That's cute. The way they change drinks with water before the erotic scene make it less "a messy Porsche" and the fact he puked before anything happen while in the book he did it during the act, the fact he recognize Kinn while before his vision was fuzzy, the way he taunt Kinn and the fact he remind him the kiss before ( Last week, I was sure there will be a reference to it during that moment today) toned the scene down a lot. We have more "erotic act" than just sex act. The lights, the camera moves around their bodies looked like a painting. And the free fall piano version was so beautiful. I hope for a release :o I found that scene a bit short, but very beautiful. Let's see how Porsche will be next week.
And the fact they show us that Kim has some secrets is pretty cool, also the fact he crossed the way with Porchay before knowing who he is lead us to "what will he do now ? "question.

In the book the scene is coherent. As for we like it or not, it's individual preference. I agree the way it come is a bit hasty and "easy shortcut for a -hard-bed scene"in the novel. as a writer I don't really like that. But Porsche is shown a bit naïve at the beginning, because a part of him want to live freely and simply so he don't really think further x) The novel choose to focus on the trauma development at the beginning and how it affect the impulsive and closed-heart Kinn and the troubled dependant fragile Porsche. One has forget he has the right to feel weak sometime even if he understand later that if he allowed it and inducted it it was because some kind of tiny border was already crossed but he wasn't aware ot it, it's not weakness but he called it weakness because he's not allowing himself "deep affectionate love" except for his bro. One other has forget how love shall be cared for not robbed from because of trahison.
That's why it's coherent. And I have no problem with the scene the way the story unfold their relation at the beginning. For now I think it's really softer than the novel, I hope we will have a bit more darkness in the uncut and not only with P/V

As they choose to introduce us the burden past of Porsche in this episode during that scene in the end between both of them, I think they will show us Porsche "needs" more than Kinn "will". In this scene Kinn ask more about Porsche than Porsche about Kinn, so he already "inquiry" about the tiny scaredy cat. As how they will show us, we will see. But i do hope he won't hurt him like in the novel because that scene was a bit too much, too long also, even if coherent.
In the preview for the drama ep4 we saw that there is drugs pour in a drink, so I think we will have some scene. Well they can soften the scene but they cannot remove it. They introduce us the kiss also as an overture for the troubled Porsche. He is drunk but will he remember it ? I think things will turn in round in his head and lead him to be provocative and carefree at this auction evening. Because Porsche is normally afraid of Kinn so why he allowed the kiss and kiss him back ? Why did he followed Kinn at the house for the debt collection, while he was under the other bro order ? :) So I think this is the introduction of "what to do ? What i've done? Why I've done that ? Where are my shields ? " version of Porsche :p
Because this scene is a break in the barrier of Porsche's certainties, (brother, money, school, debt, sexual preference, love, his world meaning...). Everything in his life took advantage of his feeling, he do not feel his own heart. He enjoy flesh just for flesh, a day for a day, and we can see he is scared of his own feelings. In the novel, he is always on the verge of exploding, because of multiple repressions; and more he is close to his own heart more fear pop, more explosing behavior start.
But in the drama we don't really see that, not in the same way. So I hope they keep a similar scene with soften tones maybe or more caring I think, because Kinn is already soft hearted after all. And he saw Porsche is on the verge to break even if he don't know it yet (that scene in slow motion where he killed someone was put here as a trigger I think now Porsche knows he can't go back, so he will just "free fall"). But the story is deep dark emotionally, soften everything is not the main point to have such story on screen now either. What's matter is the writing in the POV. I'm really suprised, for example, by the serious writing of the BL Miracle of Teddy Bear :) But that's just my opinion as a writer x)

One week to wait to see it T_T

I agree for some scenes, I also prefer the novel version. I already read 3 times the beginning x) I think they make them a bit softer for on-screen version. But I really like the way they chase/run away each other in the beginning of the book. They are really "animal" well some kind of.
They choose a different view but the meaning of their relationship stay, so that what matter in the end ^^They choose to keep the softer and fragile side of each other character I think, more than the angrier, troubled and impulse sides one.
I just hope for a bit more" darkness psychology" in the futur episodes because I like the way they learn from each other in the book, well at least at the beginning.

I laugh a lot when I saw Bad and Crazy kdrama on the TV in the Tankul bedroom scene x) and the scene where Porsche jump behind the sofa was hilarious x) He is totally a child haha
I was expecting to see a more vulnerable Porsche with the bullet wound moment but it was a bit soft for me x) I admit I knew it was this moment and I waited with a lot of expectations x) Anyway, I prefer the novel version for this scene. Personnal preference even if the scene is good too, it's just different.
Overall the episode was great and I didn't expected the kiss at the end but it came softly and beautifuly, the way Porsche start to show how he is inside without defiance or fear of Kinn is just great. And Kinn reaction is great too, he is calm but already burning inside, some kind of we can already see his protective instinct awakening for Porsche ( it's already obvious when with just a gaze he ask Pete to get Porsche out during the bully debt scene). But not in the way "protect him from the other family, to show autority" as we already saw it but protect him against some kind of darkness floating around this lifestyle, like if he already has sensed a glimpse of fragility and has been attracted to it. The kiss for me was like a key to enter a fragile garden. Indeed that was beautifuly written.
Next week will be hot I think with this preview x) A week to wait T_T
Thank to this episode I was able to think about something else than the pressure about our presidential french electionsT_T. So happy to be able to watch this drama and read/share our comments here together :)
