Most of my favorite crime movies were made before 2010. It's too bad they couldn't be included in this article.High…
Hi I just saw you posted your interest in writing an article about the history of Chinese dramas[MDL Writers] Article Ideas & Discussion. If I were you, I would've written the article on a Google doc. You stated that you would finish it in a few months. Who knows by then they fix the bug, so you'll be ready with your article. As a first time writer, you have to write on a Google doc and share it with an editor anyway. If by the time you finish the article they still haven't fixed the bug, I can help you by claiming as the main writer. Or you can ask another writer you like, if they want to be the main writer to claim it. The only limit for us is the quota 3 claims/6 total.
I'll try to answer your questions on that post:
- The topic is ok. I think someone else wrote an article like that for Jdramas. If it's too long, the editor will ask you to make it shorter or divide in parts. Please check the length in the guideline slide #23
- There is no preferred citation format. I have seen many types, either formal (like APA or MLA since you're in the US) or non formal, as long as you give sources.
- It's ok to share the article with other users before it's published, that's why Google doc or other file sharing type is useful. I have seen articles referring some people who have helped the writers with their feedback, etc.
- Once you claim you can finish it in 6 months, then an editor will contact you about the claimed article, see slide #3

oh I saw the FL is Yoshitaka Yuriko. I watched her in Love Shuffle and Your Eyes Tell. Yes she's good as a psycho. That's her role (kinda) in Love Shuffle. Have you watched it? Oh but it's a romcom, not crime ;D

Is the alternative ending for Killer and Healer just a written version from the scriptwriter, or is it actually…
Yeah, but Xiao Zhan still played in romance dramas ;D

By the way, I actually wrote a CW article on Luoyang, it will be on the front page in about 3-4 hours but you can already read and comment. Don't worry, I don't spoil the plot at all, minimal spoiler on the main characters but I actually just developed the character info a little bit from the MDL synopsis. So no surprises. There are a lot happened I didn't write about, so it's safe for you to read if you don't like spoiler.

I swear, I didn't ask the Admin/Publisher to publish my 2 articles back-to-back both with Wang Yi Bo on the cover images, lmao!

It seems WYB prefer non romance shows now. With his cold persona, I think he's better in non romance. I heard about his upcoming Wuming movie with veteran actor Tony Leung. He has 2 other movies too. All 3 are non romance.

Wow, from your list I think I only watched Kairos, dropped Memories of Alhambra, and is Liar Game the K or J drama?…
Yeah I was confused with the J version cos too many, though people said they're good. I will check out the K version. Thanks for the recommendation ;D

My Name, The Devil Judge and Vagabond they have slight romance and as for City Hunter definitely has Romance I…
if it's a slight romance, they won't tag it cos it's not the focus of the story ;D

I am not sure about other dramas.. but Vagabond does have romance.. I mean in the end, the FL literally left the…
Yeah, some crime dramas are not 100% free of romance, though there is no romance genre in it. I think isn't what draws female audience? I saw the 'slight romance' tag in it. 30 minutes of 16x60 minutes shows? Yeah that's only like 3% romance of the entire show ;D

I dropped Legend of Fei. I think is more like a fan service, with two popular people in it. It must've cost a lot to cast WYB and ZLY together, so imo the company sacrificed the production cost (costume, CGI, setting cinematography, etc) to make it cheaper just to pay those two, hahaha!

I believe that Being a Hero will be good, unless NRTA messed up with the story. I read sometime ago that the director was not happy when he heard WYB was chosen by the producers as Chen Yu. The director is an award winning veteran director, so he regards quality of acting/actor. He thought WYB is one of those idol actors that got roles from popularity and looks, a traffic star. So I read that WYB worked hard for the role and the director was impressed with his work.

Are you watching Luoyang? WYB is in it.

I started watching kdramas back in 2016 and though i started off with romance heavy shows, i eventually gravitated…
Wow, from your list I think I only watched Kairos, dropped Memories of Alhambra, and is Liar Game the K or J drama? I agree with you on the romance part. I think I rather watch comedy+crime than romance+crime or I rather watch pure romance. Like you, I also started watching Asian dramas with tons of romcoms and romance, though started only in the mid of 2019. Unlike you, though, I jumped quickly to Cdramas instead of Kdramas. I noticed with romantic Cdramas, the plots are super predictable. Heck, I can fall asleep during the whole episode and still understand what happens to the plot, lol! I think the production companies tend play safe and make romantic dramas similar to the old ones that have been successful or passed censorship. They don't dare to try new things or mix romance with mystery, crime, supernatural, horror too much, or the drama will take a long time to be released or even never ;D

Thanks for this, like this genre, not a fan of romance so appreciate you pointing out which ones do not have romance…
You're welcome! Yeah, I agree with you. I noticed that many times the mix between crime and romance if it's not done right, the plot becomes messy. It's like the mix is intended more as a fan service, knowing that most drama watchers are female. That's why I separate the sections this way. I;m glad it helps!

Hi Soju, omg... did we have the same taste! I too loved borrowing Enid Blyton (especially Secret Seven and Famous…
I know, right? I didn't know either about Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys. I think there is one story when ND and HB team up together in a mystery case, and at that time I still didn't put together that they're related, lol. I thought the authors were always Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon cos those two names are always printed on the book covers. So the creator (not author) is the same person, who created the characters. However, the authors of the stories are actually different people, ghost writers, who are under the same pen names of Keene and Dixon. We were little way back then, we didn't know these kinda behind-the-scene stuff, nor did we care cos all we want is reading about the mysteries, lol.

Oh... it's in the Forum Discussion section, lol. No wonder I didn't see it! I think last time I was looking for it in the drama comment section. Tysm for pointing it out! Now it's a matter of when will I have time to watch it... huhuhu.

Yeah, me too if I know there is a deleted scene, extra scene, after credit scene, or whatever scene that indicates a drama/movie ends HE I will watch it.

I'm also looking forward to Being a Hero... wait... I just checked the drama page. It will air in 2nd January???

You're All Surrounded (crime, humour, romance). Tried to add the tag, let's see.
Yeah, there is no crime genre at this moment in the tag list, that's why it didn't come up in the result. However, if you click on "Investigation KDramas with Comedy" under the "investigation Kdramas" it will show up. Try it ;D
