I'm not interested in the British show, but I clicked on your article because of the Jutathep series. I tried the one with James (of course, who doesn't?), dropped it cos the womanizer general grossed me out. At that time I haven't mastered the 'selective watching' skill ;D. Actually me neither, and still not even after watching CF. However I got hooked at the first try. That drama actually made me write my first article ever, lol. I feel you. Since my preferred genres are still romance, romcom, and comedy, I hate sad endings and I try to find out if the main couple ends up together or not, aka happy endings. But I notice on dramas with any crime/investigation/mystery/supernatural/sci-fi element in it may not have a happy ending. I actually cried in The Long Night not for the death (since it's already told in the beginning) but for the sacrifice and loyalty shown in the friendship ;D

Actually, if you noticed the genres I put under each of title, lots of these dramas don't have Friendship genre in it. So if you look for dramas by narrowing down to friendship genre, you won't find them. However, having completed all these dramas I realized that I went thru the whole drama without much or any skipping/fast-forwarding is the healthy/supportive relationship between the characters, aka friendship, which are not a filler. It's like something that I see subconsciously when watching dramas of any genre ;D

Actually I tried watching HNG since I heard it was a good one. I felt asleep, lol. It was still in the first ML's childhood. I'm not sure, does it start slow? I usually have more patience trying several episodes watching historical/costume Cdramas based on novels since many start slow following the novel's story line, but I don't have the patience with modern Cdramas.

Besides TBK and TLN, I watched Sisyphus from the Light On series, too. It's not bad I think, it's similar to Psych Hunter but instead of mysticism it's pure detective/investigation. Probably I should watch The Kidnapping Game, I read an article that TKG is a good one. I just checked there are several more of Light On series for 2021, the cast are quite good too!
lol actually both The Bad Kids and The Long Night are only 12 episodes each so you can bingewatch in a day. Believe me, they are so intriguing you won't want to stop, lol. I usually mix the light-hearted and the heavy/dark/sad dramas so won't be overwhelming ;D

I did cover Ancient Detective in my other segment (historical and supernatural) but for the whole group. I dropped In A Class of Her Own cos when I watched suddenly I missed the Korean gang (this was the remake of Sungkyunkwan Scandal, right?) and I ended up want to watch Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In again (IMO don't think the Chinese actors could match up SJK and YAI portraying their respective characters). I think Qing Qing Zi Jin (which I also covered in the other segment) is more interesting cos the ML is a bandit and no restrictions on female students so there is no that overused gender bender trope. You should watch at least The Bad Kids and The Long Night, they seem your favorite genre and both are short (12 episodes), also Cross Fire.
