There are supernatural elements in this drama. Let me explain who the MLs are in terms of supernaturality. Lin Jiu Shi has a special hearing ability, he can hear sounds that others can't hear. That's why it seems like he hallucinates or daydreams, but he doesn't. He hears things when we see what he hears. So that's why Jiu Shi goes home and feeds his cat like nothing happened, as you said, because he's used to his super hearing.
He gets sucked into the Spirealm because he starts liking it at the cafe but it's a demo. Later he got a gift of the full game. About the gift it will be explained way later in the drama, I don't want to spoil you. I personally think Jiu Shi could 'hear' the (full) game call him to play Door 1, and the rest is history.
Ruan Nan Zhu acts like nothing out of the ordinary in the game because he's the game expert/guru, he's been through 10 doors when the drama starts. He also has a special ability. He has supervision, he can see things invisible to others.
With the duo's superpower combo, probably it's what you see in Ep 1 and 2 that they act like it's nothing out of the ordinary.
