Friend, I know the reason. Yes, some Chinese people can't accept it is because of the invasion of Japan. But the censorship of the drama industry is because of history accuracy. In Han dynasty, there's no clothes with bow knots on the back.
If the historical dramas can change the clothes, hairstyles freely...Then after a few years, the next generations would think these cultural elements all belong to China. This censorship not only protects Chinese history and culture, but also protect other country's histories and cultures.
I hope all the people from different countries and cultural backgrounds can get along in peace. But we know the reality is cruel and sad.

I'll recommend 'The secret of three kingdoms', if you prefer the same clothes and hair styles as this drama. It's slow-burn. The chemistry is great. The actress of the empress (FL) has excellent acting.
But I only recommend the first half (to about EP20), coz after EP 20 it's different from the novel and is slow pacing. The author is Ma Bo Yong. His novel adapted dramas include ' Luo Yang', 'The longest day in Chang'an', 'Wind blows from Longxi'β.

The left part is picked up by the two mysterious persons, the right part is picked up by LBY. He is just joking about her nickname without the left part coz it sounds cute and hilarious.
