i just got back from watching the offgun cooking show and she just came off as very elitist and snooty. She tried to imply that being short was bad in front of Gun >_>

Alot of the time it has to do with selling skin brightening creams. Thats who sponsors most of these shows. They purposely cast people who will be able to sell these creams and serums and it mostly women who watch dramas and buy beauty products, so the two and two go in hand.

They also purposely cast unattractive dark skin people to make the leads look better in comparison. They don't want someone as beautiful as Beyonce or Kelly Rowland standing next to the lead female. It would threaten the status quo and propaganda they are pushing.

The industry was built on colorism and its sad that we always have to be gaslighted and told we are "trolling' for bringing up legitimate concerns.

We haven't gotten to a point where their image on tv is considered "balanced". Light skin people have a balanced imaged because they are given both positive and negative roles. The same can not be said by people with dark skin.

Right now a MAJORITY of roles involving dark skin people are 1 dimensional and skewed towards negativity. Which is why they are highly stigmatized by negative roles irl. if they were given EQUALLY DIVERSE roles as light skin people, no one would be complaining. Its colorism period.

Another reason that F4 drama was UNBEARABLE. She and her other lead were just STALE throughout the whole thing. And guess what? She didn't even have ANY acting experience yet she was casted as LEAD in her FIRST ROLE. She didn't earn her way up to lead like other actors with genuine talent and it shows.

GMMTV's casting at this point is basically choosing from a pool of rich kids who want some fame and some exposure.
