His mother abandoned him. Of course he would have hard feelings. He loved her and missed her desperately, but…
Absolutely. I understand that this was a romcom but it wouldn't hurt them to explore a little more deeply into other characters and how they are impacted. All of that is brushed aside to focus on the lead couple. Everyone else's story is secondary and unsatisfactory. The sister's flashback was pretty shoddy direction as it explains nothing about why she is the way she is. Nor why she kept her son away from her or what was going on with her and her husband. People don't change overnight but they decided to end everything on a happy note irrespective of how unrealistic it is. Not sure why certain situations were created if they were not meant to be clearly explained. Ah well.

Same issue with me. A lot of things were happening without much point to it and was not given the attention it deserved. The romance was great but because the drama introduces situations without proper progression and impact, it feels a bit unsatisfactory. As you said, don't introduce these story arcs at all if you will deal with it so haphazardly. Sigh.

she seems like a person who shouldn't have been a parent. She is so stuck on victimising herself she can't see…
Yes, unfortunately, this show didn't do well with any of the side stories. The focus was the relationship. I wish they had made more of an effort to explain that resentment since it was such a huge part of the brother-sister conflict. Because that flashback was not it. :/

Yes, I felt terrible for her son. I don't even understand what upset her in the flashback. Her father didn't ignore her. She held herself back. She was making herself miserable.

To clarify, I am not questioning why he looked for his mother but rather the director's portrayal. So much importance is given to him looking for his mother and trying to understand where she went and why. But when he finally understands, he doesn't care and decides he doesn't want to meet her. Then he was harsh when she chose to come back because she felt her husband was going to be unfair with her son as well. And even though the whole situation was because Gu Won's father failed to protect his mother, all of the anger was faced by his mother. I don't think she deserved that when she was helpless in that matter. We aren't told why she decided to leave Gu Won. Maybe she wanted him to have a life that she could never provide. Basically, her side was completely glossed over and rushed and she didn't even get a happy interaction at the end unlike him with his father. I find the writer/director's decision for this to be quite unfair. Plus it was quite rushed. Just my personal opinion.

I was relieved that he went back to his mother. That he gave in to what he was truly feeling. I just felt he was being unnecessarily harsh when it wasn't even her fault. It was his dad's fault for failing to protect her. He never even called her back. He never explained to his son why his mother had to leave. He let his son feel resentment for his mother. We don't really get details on why she could never get back in touch. Just that she was blackmailed to stay away. But she was clearly in pain too. Unlike Gu Won's sister who had no reason to push her son away but did so willingly. Considering how desperate he was to find his mother, I expected more from that reunion but it was rushed and then discarded. No last episode interaction with the mother either unlike with the father who actually kept mother and son apart.

Oh. Now I'm wondering if I should delay starting it. Though October isn't too far away.

Why did he bother look for her at all then? He should have forgotten about her long ago. But when he finally got answers he didn't seem to care. I would have expected some relief or emotion that she didn't willingly desert him. It's weirder that his father didn't call her back once he gained power and influence. So if anyone's to blame, it's the dad.

Title King the Land Spoiler
There are some more things that didn't make sense to me.
Gu Won was desperate to find out about his mother and when he did, he didn't care. I would have thought that knowing she was forced to leave in order to protect him would have melted his heart. Then when he met her he was so harsh. If he hadn't gone back and hugged his mother, I would have completely written him off. I could see him doing the same to Sarang if they ever broke up in the future.
Sarang probably is not breaking up with Gu Won. It's either a joke or it's related to her job as few others suspect. The timing is just too weird. 1 episode left and they probably just want to create some kind of suspense.
They have also completely forgotten about the marriage arrangement of Gu Won with 0 follow up or repercussions.
On King the Land Aug 6, 2023
Isn't it ironic? Gu Won's sister was desperate for her father's love and she's ignoring her son desperate for her love.

You can look at her fellow member Jennie and get your answer. Regrettably, dating remains "scandalous", particularly…
The agencies creating this image are basically unleashing a ticking time b*mb because when you allow fans to imagine that any of these male idols can be your boyfriends, potentially, it will only blow up when the idols do get involved romantically. I am surprised that fans are offended to the point they are asking for the EXO member's removal. Is this more specific to knetz or the feeling is mutual among international fans?

Money She earned her monthly salary for one evening in a dated uniform. In company attire, they can remain invisible…
Yes, considering she is good at a job, the plate drop was a bit unbelievable. And then she said she didn't expect his family to necessarily approve of her. I guess this was an attempt at creating drama which didn't really work well. The drama is all right though. I don't have too many issues with it. There are certain storylines I would have liked to see explored a bit more but it's too late for that. I still have 2 episodes to catch up on.
