They kept the marriage proposal plot, I'm happy. Same reason as the original, just a different push. I'm liking the way HaeJun is written and played. He's not the same guy as the original... I'm missing the anxiety surrounding the male lead. It's there, but not as THERE. Don't get me wrong, I like this version... there are just some things I'm longing for. I'm still thinking about him begging for pity, or his eyes and body language whenever she didn't seem as utterly committed as he was.
I... I can't believe Dal is actually a lawyer. Noooo!!! I know there's not enough time to do all the side stories but I really wanted that blow up with the mum. I really wanted her to have failed on purpose. That informed her career SO MUCH!!!
I've been binging all day. I was about to watch 19 when I came here to see some spoilers. I should not have come. This is not a nice place. OMG!!! I can't get those hours back. My eyes are all blurry and everything.
She did him dirty. The obvious aside, he was wealthy. She was his happiness. He probably could've gotten her treatment somewhere. Money could've bought them happiness... that was her belief, wasn't it?
He said why, though. He kept in contact because it’s DH’s father. It made sense to him.
I consume a lot of dramas/ fiction and am pretty good at logical thinking. I can see what they were setting up. No need to convince me of anything- I was simply engaging in conversation. The first half (set up) is over and now we move on to getting questions answered.

He WAS adopted. Being adopted doesn't mean he doesn't have a loving family. They said it in the past. Dad said it to DH. They did show by showing how the elders treat him and the dad showing up unannounced. He was not brainwashed. A whole thing they're doing is showing us the difference between the old way of teaching and the new way, isn't it? People got beat up by teachers and coaches and were still relatively close with them- that's just how it was. I'm with you that the dad's version of events in the past is wrong, but that's his point of view and JY is such a good guy/golden retriever character that he's letting the dad think what he wants. How was episode 3 convoluted?

I think you're overlooking the simple answer. JY had no way to contact DH because he was being ghosted. Sure, DH loathed his father, but a father is a father and JY is adopted- his view on family might be different. Like, it took 12 years and it wasn't how he wanted it but his plan worked. He got to see DH through the dad. There's the second simpler possibility- he didn't want DH to feel any guilt later on in life for having neglected/ abandoned his dad. Re: your comment on bond. They didn't show us before the jump as we were focused on budding romance, but they hinted at how close they got DURING the jump. So close that that bitter old man looked relaxed, made a jovial comment, showed up virtually unannounced and wanted to leave him the gym- all the dad's friends treat JY like a son. We know from this how close they were.
There is good contrast with the mums. Both left their same-aged sons around the same time; were no contact and showed up around the same time during the boys’ senior year. 1 goes to her son and demands acknowledgement, respect and obedience- irrespective of his emotional state and opinion. The other quietly removes the debt that might’ve been a burden to the son, does not seek out her son (who she’s been told would like to see her), but otherwise doesn’t cause any disturbance. Wherever she’s been and whatever she’s been doing, she showed up after her sister was called out. The actress also did a wonderful job of showing that she’s only pretending to be cool. She couldn’t even drink the water, looked uncomfortable seeing the evidence of her son growing up without her and was always ready to bolt. One is not like the other. Both boys were abandoned, but one couldn’t even fathom not missing and wanting to be with your mother. I wish we’d got the “He’s YOUR son” line from her, but beggars and choosers. The writing, direction and acting are A stars.
The promo means we’re nearing the jump… but… Seoul is a car ride away. They can take the train, the bus…an expensive taxi…. 🤔 There was that mention of Japan, though…
Nice try. They can't make me hate HJ's mum... Ruined it with how she left... that mysterious call on the bus... showing her regretfully leaving HJ with a close family member. Nah... No doubt SanHa was abandoned, though.
I watched half of the chinese version because it felt too much like incest. Starting watching this one, after…
Sudden?! He only had eyes for her. It was STATED that she was the only girl he ever said more than two words to at a time. The whole stay off our beds thing...the dentist, the bra, the watermelon, the request for cute acts, the response after hitting her head.... ML was always down bad. Zero incest. Especially since her brother was only temporarily brainwashed by his friend.

She's not right, but she's not wrong.
