also the subtitles should stop putting "yin guo" when they've all been referring to her as "sǎozi" (嫂子) as in "sister-in-law". Even when lin yi yang asked the manager brothers to buy her food he introduced her to them as "your sǎozi"

lol i didnt watch story of kunning palace because i can't take the male casts' age gap with bai lu (my personal issue, nothing against the actors), but i did watch first love with tian xi wei and wxy wasn't impressive at all lol
the exorcist(?) was so perfect for this really and it makes it a lot more straightforward too. so many revelations and there really was no secrets that weren't discovered in the end plus I didn't have to invest so much time and effort pondering how this character ended up finding out about this particular thing. it made everything simpler, no unnecessary twists and turns that are typically more common in these types of genre

IMO strong woman also had plenty of unnecessary characters like the monk, the gangster/sindicate, etc etc that took quite a lot of screen time as well but at least it didn’t steer away from the main couple and bongsoon’s fight against the creepy psycho
I mean you have to look at it in comparison to other kdramas and all asian dramas being rated here on MDL. My girlfriend is a gumiho, hwarang, she was pretty, etc etc all got 8.0.

I really really really love qin shi yue but it sucks that she’s the only one giving shi yan advices and inputs and prompts. Because her perspective comes from her own situation with yu you.
Her statement “it should be the guy’s turn to be proactive now” should not have been applicable to shi yan and shu yi because qin shiyue didn’t approach yu you with ill intention, didn’t fake her affection, didn’t lie to him, AND didn’t entertain another guy despite being repeatedly ignored by yu you. Shu yi did all those and shi yan should be allowed some time to distance himself from her, to hear her apology and explanation, to confirm whether her feelings have become true, and to know from which point her feelings became true, as in from which point she became honest. Shu Yi should have been the one that’s more determined to approach him.
In the end the writer gave us her getting sick and shi yan having left no choice but to go to her.
