Li Xian is a really good actor in terms of body movements and facial expressions, however he has really poor skills in terms of delivering lines. His delivery lacks emotions, his dialogues end up sounding like narrations directed to the viewer instead of the other character he was supposed to be talking to, and his own monologues are very monotonous. He also lacks volume control, in moments where his character should be whispering gently, his voice gets louder than appropriate, and I end up getting distracted and my immersion and concentration on the scene get ruined
Do you think that so far, even at episode 16 or perhaps 18 - based on the trailer - Yao Zhi Ming is still a calculated…
that’s why im glad it has 37 episodes in total. there’s still time to transition to their own story because i would really prefer it if this current storyline has been fully resolved first before they start theirs
The chemistry in AASOL is different. Both leads in AASOL make it so real. I loved Jing Boran in Road Home and…
in my case what made the second half of aasol feel unnatural was that despite all the time skips that it had, it felt like the leads stayed 21 and 27 all throughout. I mean they each spent a birthday while in a LDR and yiyang waited another 1.5 years before actually returning home so they were already ~almost 24 and 30 for the rest of the series until another 3-year time-skip came on the very end. Despite all the things that they supposedly went through, I wasn't able to see how the characters grew and matured. Miaomiao and Wu Lei looked young, and they acted young while trying to portray all these adult stuffs, so it was awkward to see.

i actually think road home couple was more natural. in the end and overall i enjoyed road home better. second half of aasol became too cheesy for my taste
finally done with this drama! not gonna lie it ended up being too cheesy for me towards the end, so I'm really glad we had matches until ep 29 because it was the only thing that kept me going (along with meng xiaodong and lin lin lol).
i'll use Road Home for comparison since it's from the same writer...
1) I think both Road Home and Amidst a Snowstorm ended up being a little draggy towards the end, but I could digest Road Home better, even the uneventful moments in Road Home just felt natural, they made sense. A lot of scenes in Amidst a Snowstorm felt too cheesy at least for me. I get that she's 21 and he's 27 at first, they're both experiencing first love, but there were a lot of time skips and we even saw both of them having their own birthdays, at some point she was probably already 24-25 and him 30-31. Some of their intimate scenes just felt unnatural. And I don't even mind some of the PDAs but at some point it became too much to bear.
2) I think Amidst a Snowstorm wasted too many good and interesting characters. I get the focus on the leads but there were some parts where it wasn't very necessary to focus on the leads. That excess screentime could have gone to Jiang Yang, or Meng Xiaodong, or Liu Xiuran, even Wu Wei
3) Nothing bad to say about Wu Lei's acting, he has always been outstanding even when he was younger. EXCEPT his gaze. I think he could improve a bit on his gaze. There's little difference between his "loving" gaze and his "angry" gaze, or his "sad" gaze. They're all just intense. When I watched Love Like The Galaxy, I also noticed this but I thought it was because his character was a complicated mix of sad, and yet so in love and through it all he had so much anger. I thought it made sense. Seeing him do the same gaze in different scenes here makes me think he has yet to improve on this.
i'll probably add more on this but these are my thoughts after finishing all eps (ep 23-30 at 1.5x speed)
amidst a snowstorm is taking a break from airing due to the new year so i decided to start this since i found out it's from the same writer! hope to enjoy it as much as im enjoying amidst a snowstorm!~
Now this is the thing about male lead and female lead did you watch other dramas in other dramas most of the time…
not really. there's only 1fl but the other 2 girls have significant roles as well
it's hard to find a drama where the male lead is surrounded and liked by girls who could pass as main characters. it's common for writers to go the easy route of writing girls who are irrational, unreasonable, and despicable when they also like the male lead. they're basically just written to make life difficult for the main female lead.
^^this is also why it's much easier to find female leads who find it difficult to set boundary --- because the boys around them are all written to be nice, gentlemanly, considerate and all of that makes it easier for the female lead to have good relationships with them. In comparison, most female love rivals have unattractive characters. Take "Love Like the Galaxy" for example, every guy that liked Shaoshang could be considered a catch. On the other hand, the women who liked Ling Buyi are turnoffs.
I'm sorry but, Zhao Jinmai????? How is she so good?! Her acting is so natural, it's almost too real! Sometimes…
Zhao jinmai is really good, i first saw her in a little thing called love and thought she was just another actor who was casted because of her youthful image but after watching her in Growing Pains 1 and 2, i was really impressed and looked forward to her works
This is so much better than Hidden Love and Only for Love. No offense meant. I love both Bai Lu and Zhao Lusi,…
I totally agree i love bai lu and a lot of her works but i had to drop only for love as i found it lacking in depth and substance, i did still enjoy some parts.. as for hidden love, i didnt drop it and i actually loved the story and acting but still, i think this is better than both the hyped dramas of 2023
Hi. I want to ask how is cheng yan as a character? Is she good? Does she like the ml or not?
cheng yan has like… 2-3 minutes of screen time so far lol she’s still just a background character who likes the ml
Based on what we’ve seen of her from 16 eps, her character doesn’t deserve to be above wu wei and jiang yang in the cast list… but who knows in the future eps
