as preparation for the remake named double helix i binged these 2 movies and I liked it. what I won't like in the recent adaptation: no open end but happy end. wtf 🤯 you can't survive such an accident but hey it's a Cdrama, they survive every fall from every cliff unscathed and going back to your rapist abuser , living happily ever after is normal, too. plus Xiao Chen in the new version looks a bit too young for my taste, more like a kid. that's irritating when he becomes a guy in his late 20s.

yes it's in the novel but I understand why they don't go into this in the series. Liuyi's feelings are complex and in the novel Chusan often gets the vibe from him that his old feelings are overshadowing their relationship.

the novel has like 6 couples, you don't need to be emotionally invested in them. the detectives aren't in love until the end anyways. it's frenemies with benefits ;)

yes he had feelings, they both had feelings but kept them for themselves. no, the sister didn't jump because of that. she was mentally sick, the enemy gave her wrong meds to worsen it. she jumped because she was traumatised in this moment seeing her love being killed.

yes, I read the novel and I'm missing their inner works, too. Chusan has mainly horny thoughts and we don't know much about Liuyi yet. while in the novel you get to know their inner conflicts and motifs. I hope they have a good talk in the next episode.
