The ending was so so. I wasn’t really invested in their romance so that’s not the reason why I disliked it. I knew Lim So Ho would die at the end, that was quite predictable and that was fine by me.
I would have liked the ending more : - if YR died as well - if they showed Cheong Ya helping So Ho’s sister and the others escape from the north or a scene with all of them in some other country (already escaped) and living comfortably.
The first episodes were quite nice but then it got really boring and the last episode was good if the ending wouldn’t have been so flat. I usually always cry if the main character is dying or if there’s some tragic love story but this didn’t make me shed a tear. I didn’t feel sad.
It was a nice drama to watch but nothing that will be remembered, not on the list of the dramas that I recommend to others.
“ Young Ro, our FL’s characterisation remains hotly debated amongst viewers, as on one hand, she is annoyingly utilised mostly as a plot device for Soo Ho’s more interesting and well developed arc, and she's also quite the emotional punching bag when she cries for the umpteenth time following numerous tragic event after tragic event.”
YES !!
“ Jisoo, was relatively serviceable in her role as Young Ro, considering this is her rookie debut. Not going to lie, she was inconsistent early on and I did cringe at times ”
YES ME TOO
“I still wished she had been able to showcase a much wider range of emotion”
YES WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO SEE STH ELSE THAN WHINING 😂😅😅
“ crying performances over and over again. (Though I think most people, myself included did get very weary of the amount of tears she shed... lol).”
YES I NOTICED IT TOO, SOMETIMES SHE’D CRY A LOT BUT THERE WERE NO TEARS AS SOON AS SHE SWITCHED HER FACIAL EXPRESSION 😭😂
I’m not typecasting Park Min Young as I have seen her in Healer and City Hunter and I liked her in both. I didn’t finish Queen for 7 days because I didn’t enjoy it but I had no issue with PMY’s acting in Queen for 7 Days. I couldn’t keep watching it for some other reason. Also, I have watched SK in Love Alarm and Nevertheless but I am not interested by Navillera as a drama so I don’t feel like forcing myself to watch it just because it may change my mind about SK’s acting. Instead I’m gonna wait for this new drama and decide whether or not I like his acting.
TBH I cannot watch a drama if the main leads are not visually attractive or OK. If I find them ugly the plot needs to be extremely good for me to watch it. Idk, I’m not proud of it but that’s how I work. AND. When I first saw him in Love Alarm, I thought wow he’s so handsome. But then, his acting wasn’t amazing. And when I saw him In Nevertheless, it was all the same in every single episode. Idk if it’s his acting that’s so bad or the directing but all he did was smile and that’s it. And now I’m looking at the pictures of this new drama and I’m not a big fan of PMY but I really liked her recent dramas (what’s wrong with secretary Kim, and the one about her being a fan). And then I see the pictures of Song Kang (supposedly scenes of the drama) and it’s still him just SMILING. I feel like he’s gonna be the same as in Nevertheless and if that’s the case then I’ll know for sure if he’s a bad actor or if he was just in the wrong drama. However, no matter how I disliked some of PMY’s dramas, the two wrote above were really good and I really liked her acting. It felt like these roles fit her more. So I hope this new role fits SK and that he surprises us with good acting. I still have hope. We’ll see soon :)
The chairman telling Dandan to go back to her cheerful self. What? When was she ever cheerful ? All I see of her is her CRYING and then she stops suddenly as if she never cried and thinks about something then goes back to CRYING. The way she switches from crying to not crying is very fake 😅 like, she’s crying so loud and as soon as she stops there’s no signs of it on her face, barely a tear, no red eyes.. terrible acting. Dan Dan’s character just makes me sigh.
There were at least two such bombs (they show explosions in the cafeteria and at the other end of the building).…
Yes I think there were 2 such bombs and your theory might not be wrong. If it really did trigger the other bombs then we all know no female student has died at least 🤷🏻♀️
There are some points I don’t really agree with, for example : in Hunger Games, yes, not everyone had the choice…
Another point I don’t agree with is about death (comes after each game in SG & during the game in HG) : not true. Squid game’s deaths came during the mini games (green light red light for example) and there’s something that needs to be noted also : Squid Game is not just different games but 1 whole game. Therefore, deaths occur DURING the game if we take it as 1 whole game. Also : you said in Squid Game players are not required to kill each other as in HG but remember the scene where they find out that they actually CAN kill each other and they’re even rewarded and encouraged for doing so with more money getting into their giant pig ? And from there on, they could have kept just killing each other but because the master of the games was the old grandpa and he could die, the free killing was interrupted. They wanted to resume it the next night but the main lead managed to lure the bad guy into not doing it.
There are some points I don’t really agree with, for example : in Hunger Games, yes, not everyone had the choice to join the games but some willingly did, they trained since they were kids in order to participate in the games. Another point I don’t agree with is that Squid Game is about money & HG about survival. No, HG is also about money & fame because that’s what the winner gets at the end. Both SG & HG are about money AND about survival. They all have to survive & they survivor gets money at the end. And in HG as I said, some willingly participated and chose to, and wanted to win & get money & fame.
Idk why everyone likes Boon Ok now. I still don’t. She’s not just trying to survive, she’s nasty and wouldn’t mind getting everyone killed if she could save herself. She doesn’t seem to have anything kind in her.
To those who forgot about the detonator bombs : there’s only 1 or 2 and SH lied to tve detective saying he put them all around the dorm (knowing the army / ennemies NSP whatever were listening through the microphones they drilled through the walls). It was a way for SH to scare them all and protect himself and his comrades. But he was bluffing. So nobody died when the doctor used the detonator and the bomb(s) exploded because we see in the teaser for next week’s episode that it’s second floor or third that exploded, however they were all downstairs about to exit the dorm.
