When you said you stopped Pinocchio because of her acting... I honestly don't know what to say. Because that is…
I don’t understand why you’re insulting me over a tv show I said I didn’t enjoy. I’m not slandering just stating my opinion. That’s quite immature so I will stop feeding this argument. I wish you all the best.

I’m not eating my words back as I still don’t think she could act when she filmed the dramas I listed above. One thing she knew how to do is cry. And she was probably casted for that reason. And yes, I stopped watching Pinocchio because of her acting. Sorry if that hurts you somehow but that’s my opinion. You can feel like she’s an amazing actress while in my opinion she’s average. But as I said, I admit that she nailed her role in this one and hopefully she gets to try roles that are more different and lively, because it seems like she needed that.

I understand what you mean about her acting. I suppose it could have been a case of her getting casted into very…
That first kiss with DaOn was her usual weird kiss though😂 the other ones in the last episode I didn’t watch because I skipped through the episode, as the whole ending was so so for me (story wise).

And yes, it could be the reason as you said. All her past roles were always about her motionless weird kisses and loads of crying and all that. In this one she’s the lead actress and she’s playing a strong character and I’m happy she was able to pull it off :)

Yeah I tried starting sisyphus and couldn’t go very far, I won’t say it was because of her acting, just the first episode felt a bit boring and confusing.

I used to hate PSH as an actress because of how bad her acting has always been (just as her kissing scenes) and I’ve watched her ever since 2009 in the following dramas:
You’re beautiful, Heartstrings, Flower Boy Next Door, The Heirs, Pinocchio.

I dropped pinocchio because of her acting. I just couldn’t anymore.
After that, I watched her in Memories of Alhambra (she’s not that important of a character in it).

After that I avoided dramas with her in but did watch The Royal Tailor (also not much happening for her character), and she didn’t ruin the movie like she usually does with her acting. Then I watched Alive a few years ago not knowing she was in it. The movie was so so.

Anyways, after Pinocchio, I mostly avoided her dramas (just because she was a main lead), because really, she would ruin them for me. And I know she has soo many fans but I couldn’t understand why.
Also, many say she has some natural beauty which I also couldn’t understand, because she always looked very average to me.

Anyways, I was bored and decided to give this drama a try just to see why it was in the top 10 when it was airing.

Well guys, I’m surprised.

Park Shin Hye didn’t ruin the drama.
Her acting was surprisingly good ! First time ever I felt like she nailed a role!
And she even looks good in this drama. Idk if she physically changed a bit or matured or just the styling / make up and all that stuff in this drama fits her so well.. but yeah. I have nothing bad to say about her acting or appearance in this drama.

I didn’t expect to enjoy it or to watch it till the end but I did.

P.s. : to all her fans or whoever feels upset reading my comment, please breathe and count till 100 before attacking me 😂 I’m but sharing my honest opinion and mine only. Peace.

I'm curious about what happened to the Shin sisters as that would provide an idea of what could have happened…
The sisters were taken by the japanese army as sex slaves

I think an adaptation that NEVER strays from the source is uninspired and boring. What's the point in adapting…
Same. I don’t mind the additions. They made the story even more rich and the characters much more interesting /likeable.

Title Pachinko Season 2 Spoiler
I didnt like Noa in the book as nuch as I remember and viewed him as a selfish character, but really liked him…
Same, also didn’t like him. Didn’t like how he disappeared after all his mother sacrificed for him. She could have aborted him to avoid marrying a stranger and leaving her mother, to avoid the shame of other people finding out. She didn’t. She decided to keep him and to give him a father so he grows up without feeling shame. She went to another country, struggled and did everything in her power to make their little family thrive. She was the only strong person in that family, she even became the breadwinner while the men were dying or crying over their scarred faces. All she did, in the end, was for him. She protected him from everything. Emotionally, psychologically, physically. She protected him from starvation, from lack of opportunity… all that for what? For him to disappear without a word and then commit suicide the next day after she finally found him and got to see him. So selfish and so weak. For the first time in his life he was in a situation from which she couldn’t protect him (emotionally hurt, depressed or whatever) and he didn’t have enough in him to stay strong and overcome it. He just decided to run away and eventually to end his life because that was easier for him than to live with the truth. Not once, in the book, did he think about his poor mother who went through it all for his sake. Not when running away, nor even when taking his own life did he consider her. That was so cruel of him to inflict such pain to Sunja. Especially knowing that she’d probably blame herself all her life for what happened.

Title Pachinko Season 2 Spoiler
What do we think about Noah at the end of the season? He was written as this humble and devout Christian with…
So he’s written as a very sensitive and psychologically weak character (at least that’s how I understood it while reading the book). He needed emotional protection from all adults and also he’s very burdened by the fact that his family relies on his success. Because of how much they sacrificed for him. And in the book his nationality (korean) is sth that he was complexed about. He always wanted to be a Japanese and be accepted. Anyways. Finding out he was the son conceived out of wedlock, that the man (Hansu) he believes to be bad and corrupt is his father was an enormous psychological shock to him. It can explain his outburst of anger towards his girlfriend because she dared to utter out loud sth that he always felt but couldn’t understand or didn’t dare to acknowledge.

Touching! Should I read the book or should I wait for next season? I would love to keep it as suspense but really…
I read the book after watching season 1 and I’m still enjoying watching this even though I knew what was gonna happen.

Yeah the way they just kind of ignore his role in firing them both and never address it again. He just casually…
Maybe because it’s a comedy, they did that breakfast scene. Also, for some reason I feel like he’s doing what he’s doing only so that his mother doesn’t do something worse to them?
