I did some major digginggggggg in behind the scenes videos! So, the character of Qin Fen can play the violin > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teJuJHJqZGI but we all can agree that his skills are.....InTEreStING. The ML cannot play violin as u can see based on this video :D
They did have an actual conductor on set for the conduting scenes so they should be fine.
Music & instruments in the Dramaland are mostly pretty... bad. These scenes are so shaky & cut up that they compete…
But still they are actually doing a better job than other Chinese dramas where violins do not have a bridge. But what I don't get is that Qin Fen had once 4 finetuners and than suddenly 1 as it should be????

Actually I have to say that his scenes look better than others and I really need TwoSet violin to rate this drama, because...it is so weird! In one scene the violin guy couldn't pluck one right note, but in other he was playing well??? And same goes with ML! That Rachmaninoff was played well and his hands made real sound + La Campanella??? That actress literally played La Campanella and it was real. That's why I don't understand how some scenes are terrible and the playing is off, but in next scene they are playing well.
FL is the worst because she is not moving her torso or hands when she should. Pianists do not just sit and look stoic, they move their whole body and I had to laugh at that Schubert, when the outer camera shot showed zero torso and hand apart movement when there should be.
You can't just compare production based on countries. Just rate it by your enjoyment
But the term production consists of exactly what u mentioned. Production is a word that can be described as a bundle and that bundle consists of : cinematography, editing, costumes, music, etc. Since as u said there is different culture, as I said the directors try to implement the foreign culture in production into the series. I get that finance is a huge factor, but this is why I love watching low budget shows. U can give the same budget to two different countries and make them do the same thing - BL drama. And when u see both low budget dramas airing u can see the true talent of the production team, because some can make miracles with low budget, while others make trash - my example was taken from Capture lover and Where your eyes linger. The difference in production is ENORMOUS.
I love how they changed the unrealistic ''comedy'' from the original, BUT the music is so sloppy and do not get me started on the piano and violin performances. In EP2 that violin ''battle'' was just....he hit all wrong notes, and in EP3 that Beethoven's Moonlight sonata 3rd mov. was SO sloppy, like he missed numerous notes that it shocked me! The actor knows how to play piano, so that's why I am even more shocked.

As3 I disagree with your statement. Production teams themselves compare themselves with other countries in terms of production, because it is a way to learn and make your work better. It doesn't mean something negative, but take something positive out of it. Filmakers are often inspired by techniques which are done by foreign filmakers. Many and I mean many directors admit and even say who they were inspired by. And Chris is indeed very right that Korean production is always on the top. Thailand and other countries should take the opportunity and try to learn, since learning doesn't hurt anybody.
There are actually people with good voices in the ground currently from the little we got to hear of them in the…
Indeed I saw few potential stars with very good voice, but thanks to their genius part distribution they were lost in the crowd. I have I think 2 potential stars from I-LAND, but from Ground nobody, cause we got zero to none exposure and I hope in next episodes they will give them screentime :)
A very short review of EP2 from me : This EP only confirmed my first thoughts that the trainees are not thaaaat talented and do not show further potential - my subjective point and if it helps u in judging me, I attended art school majoring in singing. YES - Some have potential and I could hear it in their vocals, but majority of people from the I-LAND (I am judging them for now because they showed close to none performance from GROUND) do not have stunning traits. I cannot judge dancing since I am like a piece of log, but in terms of singing, majority were off key, the rhythm was meh, vocals were weak and what got me the most was, that at first they did not even pick people by singing, but dancing and hello guys? Group can survive with weaker dancing, but singing stands out the most and the member that was chosen for center - is this a joke?????
ALSO people fighting for higher positions when they clearly have lower range voice. U think your range can magically change? Yes, u can work on your vocals to make them stronger, but changing pitches is VERY hard to change, so them trying to sing so high was embarrasing and nothing more. Like those people must have super confidence to raise their hand for such high parts when they clearly cannot sing it.
The concept of this survival show is very new and unique but the set up of the voting isn't fair. They did not…
U can basically see human nature in this survival show. In first voting they let in worse members first because they did not want to look bad, but than they realized there might be no space left for themselves and thus voted the talented members out.
This is why I have hate-love relationship with this show. I really like honest people and this show shows just that with the voting system. On the other hand I hate their selfish and sometimes immature thinking, but this is not the show's fault - it is fault of the members.
I mean you have to consider how overwhelming that had to be. Literally the first thing they're doing is voting…
Hmmm, I get that they aren't judges, but I expected some fighting spirit? Like, isn't their priority to kiiiinda be selfish? Since they are in a survival show, shouldn't their no.1 goal be get into I-Land? I am coming from that, so that's why I was confused over their decision making.
Honestly, u are right, we do not know if rappers auditioned and if they were good, but I think they did audition just from the principle, that a lot of idol groups have rappers and they did audition as rappers, but yeah, we do not know this.
This is very subjective opinion when I say that I like groups having rappers, because it gives the songs balance. That's why I have hard time getting into groups without rappers - such as TXT.

Hmmm, I do not know if heartless is the right word. Someone already told me that ''they trained for so little, give them time'' or similiar stuff, but I always argue back that these boys kinda knew what they were getting into. They were not on the stage for the first time, they went there prior to the shooting. And even if it was heartless as u have said, the world of competition is just like that. I am for example fan of figure skating and I can tell u that the panel judges do not care how much u have trained or how old u are, u simply have to make a perfect performance to earn your place in top 3. Also, a lot of them are not that young to think the way I said before. I think there are some 18+ or 20+ members even if they are few.
Also, someone may bash me for this, but I expected rappers to show up. Because IDOL does not mean only vocal power and it was sad for me to see no rappers there. I expected from Bighit to actually let rapper trainees in, but nope....
Question, totally irrelevant to the whole conversation, but why on hell is your name "Gook". Do you even know…
GUK and GOOK are both kiiiinda correct in romanization. There are two I think types of romanization. One uses ''OO'' to represent ㅜ the other type uses ''U'' to represent the letter ㅜ. It is up to teacher or student which romanization they want to use. Romanization is not even that good to use, but I want the name to be understood by both Korean and Non-Korean speakers, thus I have chosen to put in with romanji with OO type of romanization.

I am sorry, but can I ask why are u offended? It is a standard Korean name, so please forward your confusion I guess towards...I don't even know. Should I write that in hangeul? Would that sound better? I mean I just said that it is character's name....I mean why would I use slur on myself if we go by the definition u added? It...does not make sense and I am just left being confused XD

I speak Korean so I know what it means and if u saw the Korean drama Where your eyes linger than u would know it's character's name :D I mean....almost every Korean name has a meaning, so why get bothered by it?

This is link to the sonata and how it should sound > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV7RkEL6oRc
Compare this piece with the way he played and I assure u that even non-musicians will be able to hear the missed notes.
