So you have a program? Does the program also show the lines or do you repeat the scene a million times to accurately…
Aegisub is a subbing program which shows u the english lines and u have to translate them to the language u want to. I don't understand what u mean under ''repeat the scene million times''. There is a grammar editor built in it, so it highlights if sth is off but no, u translate however u want :)
I speak German and Rusian and I translate Russian comedy videos for my German-speaking friends. And let me tell…
Oh yeah! Jokes are really hard to translate or word plays as well and I found that thai has the most word plays! I always try to change the joke to slovak jokes that we use but it's damn hard :D
Thank you so much for all your work. I want everyone complaining about subbing being too slow for them to come…
If subs appear done in an one hour since the episode got out then there must be a hella huge subbing + timing team! I clap to those huge teams bcs they are just awesome ~
Loved this article and would love a part 2. The flashback thing is interesting....never thought about what that…
Well u can divide translators in two teams with boring dramas. One team nags but finishes the drama on time, but other team (like me) gets slow and puts the projects on-hold. My current on-hold project is Tomorrow's Cantabile which I don't know how I'll finish since it's so boringggggg.
What a great article! Thank you for sharing it with us.I'm a translator myself, but I work with books, not audio-video…
U have my respect as well! IDK why I think novel translating is much harder then tv series/movies because u also encounter words/phrases which might not exist in that particular language and ALSO u might witness dislike from people who have read it in the original langauge and do not like the translated script. Also your vocab must be amazing :D
Cool article, I'm learning Mandarin right now with one of the ultimate goals of being able to translate Cdramas.…
Don't give up because it's a tough battle and when you start subbing don't get hurt by nasty comments. When I started I made so many mistakes in grammar that ppl instead of advice bashed me, so learn to ignore such people and only focus on how to be better :)
Where do you guys upload the episodes? Currently watching Time thanks for the subs :*
Time is brought to u by Kocowa, Viu and Viki! But subs are also on Subscene. I personally upload on Subscene & the site i cant mention :) For Time i'm english to slovak subber ~ But i will relay your thanks to the subbing team!
Wow you're my senior in translating!Tell me how u manage your work life & subbing life pls ~'Cause now i'm sruggling…
Don't worry my grammar sucks even when I live in Ireland :D 'Cause I speak two languages it can be a tough cookie with grammar...thanks got my mom is a teacher so she does the proof-reading of the subs I make :D
Idk how to combine it when i'm at school 'cause we have long hours of studying + clinicals which are 12 hour shifts so after I come home i'm exhausted to even reach a toilet or bath!!!! That's why i'm mostly active on summers but idk how will my future look when I will work only :/
This is a very good article! I feel that nowadays especially with korean dramas people are not appreciating translators…
Well it's hard!!! I work mostly on summers and when school starts I sub mostly movies or one drama which can take like 3 months? Which is long but I really don't have time T.T But on the other hand translating is for me a form of relax so I can't stop :D
I liked so much your post because you have written the truth about our hard lifes, yes, I'm translator too, in…
Hey! Thanks for dropping by! I'm so happy that I matched the article with the feelings other translators have as well ~ I wish u also good luck with your projects and have lots of fun and PATIENCE!!!! Lol I should tattoo that word all across my body :D
Flashbacks suck so so so bad! And Signal is freaking important show so the flashbacks can actually mingle with the plot so they have to match well, so I can totally feel your struggle!
Also I’m curious. How does everyone manage adult life while be a drama addict at the same time. I need tipsss
There is no adult life :D I am a uni student as well so I wouldn't be able to have adult life even if I wasn't subbing....
But senior solo translators who are married and have kids said that they rather work slow than lose their quality time with their family, which is right. If I get married I will probably sub much slower and leave the new projects to younger generations :)
Yeah, I know but I won't stop dreaming :DI'm quite shocked that they did not succumb to the vampire era as other…
Yeah, China has tons of fantasy but almost the same pattern? It's always around gods and I grew tired of it. I wish S.Korea would make more fantasy dramas that doesn't really have to be vampire but sth new like they did with My love from another star. :)
I don't really agree with the two top books you mentioned because I think Twilight is fine on its own. While I…
Yeah, I know but I won't stop dreaming :D I'm quite shocked that they did not succumb to the vampire era as other countries did... They made few vampire dramas but sorry they sucked so bad!
I didn't read Untouchable, how is it?
That's my current situation with Time ~
For Time i'm english to slovak subber ~ But i will relay your thanks to the subbing team!
