The queen is always sick. That’s a foreshadowing. She might probably die paving the way for Hee Soo.
The picking of ''chosen concubine'' was also difficult process, but she can become a concubine, if she gets rid of her yangban status, becomes a palace maid and gets favored by king, than she would become ''favored sanggung'' which Ring Ding Dong wants to be. For sanggung to become concubine, she has to give birth to a royal child, idk why Yi In said that he would give Ring Ding Dong title of hugung if she wants it, like....that would be against customs and women's court would be very very very much against it.
To become head concubine, meaning obtaining the title ''bin'' one's child has to become Crown Prince, for example Seong sanggung from Red Sleeve, who is a main character became the head concubine with giving birth to multiple children and even Crown Prince.
With all this being said, they might not follow this traditional rule, because technically FL DID already get favored by the king, so...idk? This didn't happen in history as far as I know - might ask my uni prof this question hahaha.

I really wanna be onboard with this idea, but we have to keep in mind that after Queen's death we have mourning period, than the marriage ban is issued, than the official selection happens, and the candidates must follow the following: - the candidate could not be of Yi family and cannot have any close relatives from Yi clan (we know the female is from Kang clan so she might pass this one) - both of candidate's parents must be alive (we do not know if FL's father is alive, but he went to Qing as a criminal so....) - the candidate must have a clean family record for ex. no treason (since her dad was a criminal, she can fail on this one) - the candidate must posses virtues that a queen should possess - the candidate has a pleasant appearance
With all this said, I think the most realistic option for FL to become a royal family member is to become a palace maid, get favored by the king and get elevated to hugung (concubine) status by bearing a child. Idk how they treat the law regarding the mother of nation title here, because they either can have a law which allows concubines to become queens or they do not have it, since in real Joseon they did have it, but later abolished it.
Did anyone else see the weird photo of FL being around the internet? I only saw it as a thumbnail photo on YT and idk how legit the photo is. I am referring to a photo of FL where she is wearing a green chogori worn by royal family.
You wanna know a weird funny thing that happened? My mom is watching this but she started with EP7. One day randomly she sat beside me and joined me, so the episodes became like 2-3 hour long each, 'cause I had to stop almost each scene for her and explain the characters and background.
Believe it or not, she is all caught up LOL Now we are together waiting for EP11 and 12.
I am in the minority, but I want to express how I feel. For me, it wasn't a ''page-turner'' drama which I expected it to be. The first five episodes I feel were the best, and than it kiiinda slooowly went down for me in terms of enjoyment. The constant ''running'' game was not for me and the last episode made me roll my eyes, because once again, we are running. For the first time I feel that the romance part was weaker, which is suprising since I am an avid romance lover and am known to love romantic sageuks over political ones. The love story was trying to be portrayed as a deep one and at first I did feel it somewhere, buuuut the running game kinda ruined it for me. The big positive points for this drama from me goes to the political parts, becauseee wow, super awesome. The parts were full of drama, sorrow and reality. I loved the king-prince interaction and the whole war part truly moved me. The beauty and sadness found in war was incredibly portrayed.
Another positive thing is how the female lead slowly matured. I love, love, love that it wasn't a super dramatic and sudden overnight change, but gradual one, due to circumstances. Her whole maturing journey was just true gem to witness.
On the other hand, while I love male lead's philosophy and wisdom, his stubbornness often makes him do bad decisions in terms of love - at least that's how I felt.
Yi In is such a gentle and smart spoken monarch.
AHHHHHHHHHH YI IN T.T
I can't contain my excitement >.<
