You wanna know a weird funny thing that happened? My mom is watching this but she started with EP7. One day randomly she sat beside me and joined me, so the episodes became like 2-3 hour long each, 'cause I had to stop almost each scene for her and explain the characters and background.
Believe it or not, she is all caught up LOL Now we are together waiting for EP11 and 12.
I am in the minority, but I want to express how I feel. For me, it wasn't a ''page-turner'' drama which I expected it to be. The first five episodes I feel were the best, and than it kiiinda slooowly went down for me in terms of enjoyment. The constant ''running'' game was not for me and the last episode made me roll my eyes, because once again, we are running. For the first time I feel that the romance part was weaker, which is suprising since I am an avid romance lover and am known to love romantic sageuks over political ones. The love story was trying to be portrayed as a deep one and at first I did feel it somewhere, buuuut the running game kinda ruined it for me. The big positive points for this drama from me goes to the political parts, becauseee wow, super awesome. The parts were full of drama, sorrow and reality. I loved the king-prince interaction and the whole war part truly moved me. The beauty and sadness found in war was incredibly portrayed.
Another positive thing is how the female lead slowly matured. I love, love, love that it wasn't a super dramatic and sudden overnight change, but gradual one, due to circumstances. Her whole maturing journey was just true gem to witness.
On the other hand, while I love male lead's philosophy and wisdom, his stubbornness often makes him do bad decisions in terms of love - at least that's how I felt.
Netflix totally sucks with translation honestly....like i am always a bit nit-picky with modern drama but with…
I would have to rewatch the scene, but in terms of translation of the title, ''sejak'' is a historicsm I guess, because it was specifically used in past for ''spies''. In terms of the second word, it's root is 매혹 truly meaning ''fascination'', but also commonly used as ''lure'' or even ''enchanting''.
Oftentimes, I do think that this drama views the word more like ''lure'', ''alluring'' or ''enchanting'' rather than fascinating or captivating. I guess they used ''captivating'' because it does make sense with the baduk game, you hold the stones ''captive'' but....yeah...
I would've liked it if her revenge was solely to seduce him, make him regret and kill him off. Simple like that,…
Damn, than I won't be watching Bloody Heart =/ I like sageuks which have 50/50 ratio meaning 50% romance and 50% politics. Currently I am watching My dearest which everyone has been praising :)

Just curious btw did anyone specifically say she's not in charge of the food? The sickly queen ssaid to Mong Woo…
She is definitely not preparing the food, because food was prepared by kitchen staff and she is of much higher rank, buuuut that doesn't mean that she cannot tamper with the drinks or food.
I think the remark was meant about sex, but that was proven to be invalid, since now eveeeeryone knows that the king never slept with Ring Ding Dong.

Sadly, seldom the women of King's could leave the palace. Even if they left, they would still be prohibited from remarrying as they were still considered as King's woman. I am till this day curious what Yi In did with the concubine which succumbed to shamanism to produce an heir. It was only said he kicked her out, but if he lowered her rank, or even stripped her from title is unknown. How did you enjoy Bloody Heart btw? I heard it has a lot of politics :/

Hellooooo ~ So, if it's 1st junior rank, it should be ''Kwi In'' that would be the second highest rank in concubine system. Idk which drama you are watching, but if the said concubine previously had title of 1st senior concubine that would be ''Bin'' which is the highest concubine rank.
Hope it helped :) Let me know if you need more clarification.
Random question but what is the position of Park Jong-hwan? He is referred to as "principal director" but not…
Netflix totally sucks with translation honestly....like i am always a bit nit-picky with modern drama but with this they totally flopped. If the subber doesnt know a term they should look it up and follow official translation of the title OR use the korean term and explain the term above the screen.
thats why i always feels that sports and romance are the genres which can't be mixed
I was so excited when I saw that it would be a drama about snooker, but not only they didn't focus on snooker much, but they showed a very fairy-tale like snooker. EP20 with the Chinese Open (which is a competition which has been discontinued since 2019) was totally ridiculous. Even skilled players often cannot do a break over 100 LOL. Also, idk if the lighting was wrong, but the balls were so....faded in color!
The snooker parts were so unrealistic. Pro snooker players spend like sometimes over 8 hours daily practicing. And the drama did not portrait the reality in which English players are on top of the ranking list. They basically created a main character with skills of a top ranking snooker player, which is Ronnie O Sullivan.
Do we actually believe the king don’t have a plan in hand to help the grand princess out of the bethroment even…
Marriages between Qing and Joseon were very common. So he could have had a plan, but didn't need one as well. Yi In personally knew prince Rui so maybe he thought he wouldn't need to interfere since Rui ain't a bad man.
I cant wait to see each other back in Captivating the king comment section hehe. Weekend should come faster!
I just finished it today ~

It was watched over by three hmmm how should I call them, officers?
Chief state councillor (yeonguijeong)
Left state councillor (jwauijeong)
Right state councillor (uuijeong)
Of course the state council had more officials but these three were the top ones.
Pls do NOT mistake them with ministers. Ministry and State council were two different things.
In terms of ranking, state council was the top of the tops, they were basically head advisors in other words.
So the ranking of offices would be:
1. State council
2. Six ministries
3. Samsa
4. Minor offices
Pro snooker players spend like sometimes over 8 hours daily practicing.
And the drama did not portrait the reality in which English players are on top of the ranking list.
They basically created a main character with skills of a top ranking snooker player, which is Ronnie O Sullivan.
It was hate at first sight with her.
I wanna seeeee it T.T
In EP8 he was soooo done with the king haha.
So he could have had a plan, but didn't need one as well.
Yi In personally knew prince Rui so maybe he thought he wouldn't need to interfere since Rui ain't a bad man.
