This drama is heavily political and him having such dangerous feelings could make him lose not only his throne, but life as well. If you think about it, he became a monarch to warm the seat for someone else. Him being ridiculed would ruin his plans.

My guess is that he is warming the seat for Grand Prince (his brother's son) and also trying to find the culprit behind his bro's death.
