I do not think ppl here have issue. I have not seen single homophobic comment, the reason why for example I have problem with it, or rather am scared of it, is because of how Joseon treated homosexuals or bisexuals.

This drama is heavily political and him having such dangerous feelings could make him lose not only his throne, but life as well. If you think about it, he became a monarch to warm the seat for someone else. Him being ridiculed would ruin his plans.

My guess is that he is warming the seat for Grand Prince (his brother's son) and also trying to find the culprit behind his bro's death.

It's not that I hate this trope, but if this continues Yi In is going to lose something - be it his head or title.

It could be both.
He might have meant it as ''I like you as a friend'' which would make sense since in the preview he was laughing at the comments that started to spread about him OR he could have laughed at them because he thinks that since he is a king, he is untouchable and can like anyone he wants - which is wrong thinking.

But based on his dislike towards her, he wouldn't want to raise her position, and she would be raised to ''favored sanggung'' if he slept with her. Having her raised, would mean giving her more power in court and Yi In is against that - at least it looks like that. She is basically blackmaling him.

Yi In should stop with his antics if he wants to keep warming the throne for other person. His actions (based on the preview) might make him lose his position.

Ladie's court - aka queen and queen dowager - were in charge of picking concubines for the king, if they were of yangban class, but they were not in charge of picking concubines among palace maids. The palace maids were picked by the monarch to spend the night with him - it was on his request. It was also on his request if the maid afterwards would be raised in rank or not....

So, what is going on with Dong sanggung?
