The director or screenwriter should atleast let her have time to examine the body before making her give forensic reports. It just looks stupid that looking at a fully clothe body she can come up with the truth about how the person was killed. If she isn't properly examining the bodies, I can't really hold her opinions as the concrete truth. And she doesn't even say her opinions as opinions, they are treated as facts once she says it.

I haven't watched Maiden Holmes but I watched In Blossom. The fl there was an experienced coroner/ medical examiner, and she stuck to that area of expertise. She was unaffected by blood and guts and death because she had lived in a grave yard for years. She wasn't the one solving the cases either, she just provided relevant information and helped guide the investigations.
This fl is very young and inexperienced she shouldn't have this level of ease in crime scenes because I doubt her "shifu" would have had the liberty to take her, an underage unwed boudoir miss to numerous "crime scenes" forer to become "an expert".
They are trying to make it still work by showing she is fll of herself and reckless but it's a thin line to balance.

The question is what exactly is her area of expertise? Is it forensic scienece/autopsy or is it investigation/deductive reasoning? I understand it can be both but since she is a rookie with little experience and just about average intelligence, that she is the one cracking the cases, is more an insult to everyone else's intelligence than a notch in her favour.

Yes to everything you said. At first I was just sick to my stomach about the sister and intensely repulsed they were turning her toxic behaviour into the foundation of a "romance" but since I was skipping her parts I was okay-ish. Then the female lead just kept getting worse: angry and impulsiely like a child and because of that everyone loved her even more🤷 and the male lead just had infinite time to run around after her, like what are his work hours exactly? And then the frustration of when will the sister come back? Where is she? She could have been stolen by a serial killer and no one cared! And then she comes back and is the calmer equally self-centered version of Juishi and suddenly I understood why noone seemed to have liked her and why everyone seemed to like Juishi in comparison.
I finished this show with these expression on my face🤢😒😕😠
This drama was basically about rewarding self obssessed women because Su Ji, Juishi and Xiaoman🤮:all terrible!!
Next time I'll believe the rating ☹️

She is friendly with Pan Zhi and it can be flirtatious because they have alot in common and he likes her and she would have probably liked him too if she knew he was her pen pal. But he has "given up" because she is married and she takes him as a friend like her other two work friends.
She isn't asking for divorce, they agreed to divorce. In both their minds the other is free to associate as they see fit. So she believed Yun Que could be the next Mrs Shen or the secret lover and he believes the same about Pan Zhi and the Marshal. They are not in a real relationship so nobody is being unfaithful.
She is trying to put away her feelings for him and he is trying to start a relationship with her. They are going in two different emotional directions.

She liked him first but she is giving it up as a youthful crush. Which is why she has to face the upcoming divorce instead of getting tangled in an unrequited love that will end soon. He likes her now but has a lot of secrets and responsibilities so it's not easy for him to love or be loved. Which is why he is being nice to her so he can win her love and affection.

This is why starting relationships can be hard. When you are not a couple yet, so you can't be too devoted, you can't get jealous, you don't know what the other person is thinking or wants and you are learning about their lives , responsibilities and goals.
That is what I see happening here and that is why the aggressive reactions to the female lead are so off putting. She has done anything to deserve the hate.

I honestly feel bad for Binglan trying to get the attention from a man living with his absolutely devoted ridiculously gorgeous mistress- wife.
The casting is so perfect with Wang Churan, I don't even have to suspend belief or bend over backwards to see she has zero chances.
Binglan better learn the lyrics to "Jolene" and go and find Mian Ting🤣🤭

My crazy conspiracy theory

Princess Run ning kills the Emperor-> Empress Dowager frames Run ning's family to death-> Run Ning kils Lai's mum & manipulates Lai Luizhi to win over the Shens-> Lai kills off the Shens-> Shen Mama comes back from the dead and sets the country on fire🤣🤣🤣

King Xian attitude seems to have changed from before he went for the disaster relief, so I feel something is off. I think VP Lai thinks he's in charge but might just be an easy tool for the real culprit.
Wouldn't it be wild if it turns out to be like Shen Du's mother back from the dead, out to destroy the royal family to avenge her husband 🤣🤭

It's really muddled. I think it might end up being a case of everyone is somewhat of a villian. Everybody being selfish, protecting their interests and avenging their own wrongs like that Jia Scholar and Mrs Tang.

I'm thinking the end game isn't even finding out the real villain more like finding out what started the mess. If they choose to go this route, I hope the storytelling lives up to it because it's not easy not having a big bad villain to catch and blame.
But so far (ep20) they have managed to keep the tone strong. I was worried that DYX couldn't maintain his aura but he's doing a wonderful job and really carrying the show. Lai Luozhi has gotten kind of lame and King Xian is still throwing me off. At one point I thought he might have been replaced when he went for the disaster relief.
But if I had to pick a main villain my suspicion is on King Xian because of that. He's just so suspicion🤨

It's quite frightening that Yan Xing can be labelled a cheater/slut simply because she works with men. It kind of shows you female rights of freedom of movement and association can be stolen since your actions can be painted any kind of way by "crazed" people.

The powerful women around the male lead keep men but the male leads character is not called into question even though he relies on these women for power.

So I have made use of the block option on MDL. I don't want to live in an echo chamber but I don't think the people hating the fl are rational and I don't think interaction with them is healthy for me.

Like the fl around men she works with is seen as attempted cheating when the only other woman at work is the actual idiot Chui Chui but the ml housing her love rival is her fault as well. The couple are not even fighting each other or hating on each other and the claim is she is using him and the fact she doesn't use him to help her sister is also a crime.

I'm truly shocked that some one can decide to hate women so much that every choice a female character makes can be construed as "immoral"😳

Considering they have banned women from speaking in public in Afghanistan, your casual hate of women, even fictional ones, is that serious

You'll see a show with rating of 7.4 and the reviewer's rating is 10, calling the drama a masterpiece 😂.
Comments are like testimonials; reviewers might be biased or their taste is different from mine. Read a few and get an idea of how a number of people felt. Balance it with the drama rating and then watch the 1st 2 -5 episodes.

I only use MDL ratings because I've cracked the code on the scoring system here. I completely ignore all other ratings. The only other metric I use would be the buzz from trailers , clips or edits on social media and YouTube. It's a good chance to get more people's reactions and thoughts. Like I think this show is great but the number of comments being so low would have turned me off if I came to check how it's going; since I take active comments section as a rating metric

This show has got me bipolar because why was I fuming that he wouldn't take her almost assault seriously simply because she wasn't really his wife one minute and then laughing my ass off when that leaf fell on his head.

I feel like maybe you just want to hate her. I don't see the things you are, so I'm bowing out.

I don't think he's bad. I think he's great as a male lead I love him. But in their world, children literally stop crying when he passes by. To have romantic feelings to someone like that requires alot and she has grown enough as a character to have it. Hence we are watching the progress.

I have mentioned the female leads faults in every comment but because am not villifying her you ignore it! Cool!

If a wife refused concubines she would get a bad reputation and if it was hyped well enough it was grounds for divorce.
He has a bad reputation but he walks into the queen's office with ease. He is more important than her. He brandished his sword at her neck on their wedding day, he is more important than her!
The house keeper only showed her "respect" after Yun Que came into the house. They were shunning her and watching her. She didn't care because she was a fake wife. But she got jealous and felt the pinch when another woman wanted the things she never had rights over!
She never passed on any information knowing that being "unuseful" was dangerous to her family. She asked that he let her snoop around to make her "being the PM's spy" convincing because it was always going to be an act on her part. She didn't even tell the PM the pigeons aren't the route of secret messages. This is the opposite of betrayal. The marriage was given by the Empress, chosen by the PM and entered by her to save her family.

She isn't simping over him and he isn't simping over her! They are reevaluating their opinions about each other. For him it went: She's bad-> she's good-> she's my childhood sweetheart! For her it went: He's my childhood sweetheart-> he's bad-> he betrayed his father-> he's good?!?.
Neither one of them have gotten to "LOVE" yet!
