Considering how hen-pecked HL's father is, I don't think there will be any danger of the Crown Prince ever getting his hands on any concubines... but he will be able to have as many cats as he likes... 🤣🤣🤣
So there will be a 2nd season? Does this mean we will get a cliff-hanger ending?
Thanks! I didn't really expect an answer to the second question, it was more a rhetorical question... I guess I'll wait with starting this until it has aired completely to avoid watching something that ends on a cliff-hanger. Hope the producers have resisted the temptation of not having a decent ending.
Currently at ep. 8, I'm just not feeling the vibe yet between the main leads. I'm definitely here for Jeremy Tsui.…
Yes, I've noticed the red eyes, too. I don't think it's an eye-liner problem as it is just visible in a few scenes. It looks like a bad case of conjunctivitis to me and the Empress Dowager seems to have the same problem in a few scenes, so my thought was that it may have been an allergic reaction to the make-up.
Hahaha, I know the feeling... it happened to me in the past. I've tried one ep of Twin Flower Romance - didn't…
Yeah, there seem to be a lot of this type of drama around... usually the over-use of pink and glittery CGI is a dead give-away! I gave up on it because 1) I really hate the transmigration trope and 2) the ML is so thoroughly unlikeable that it makes absolutely no sense for a supposedly clever and independent woman to stick around.
The FL is obviously faking it. I don't know what's the deal with her. Her loud maid meanwhile is one of those…
If she was doing too good a job of the sick-acting most viewers wouldn't get that it's fake, so she has to exaggerate the fake-acting. I cannot say that I find the maid particularly annoying, her loud screaming is all part of the fake-act (they work as a team). I've seen a lot more annoying maids whining around in other dramas, without faking it.
Eh, is it just me that Jeremy Tsui reminds me of Gao Weiguang?
Quite a few people have said this but I don't think they really look alike. It's just the way he rolls his eyes while keeping a straight face that is very similar to Vengo's Donghua Dijun.
finally new episodes tonight!!! hopefully the pace will pick up a bit since we're halfway through the drama already…
I think the pace will have to pick up quite dramatically in the second half. I'm reading the novel in parallel and what happened so far covers approx. the first 30 chapters. So there are another 115 chapters to go...
Finally the day has come. ❣️❣️❣️I've been watching *Romance of the Twin Sisters* in the meantime,…
Hahaha, I know the feeling... it happened to me in the past. I've tried one ep of Twin Flower Romance - didn't like it - so I rewatched some episodes of this to catch more details....
It's true that well-written female roles are extremely rare. There is a variety of characters, but sadly they are all stereotypes: - the innocent (and annoyingly cutsie) girlie - the obsessive delusional SFL - the know-it-all quirky/spoilt type - the dumb-as-bread, whiny maid - the evil step-mother/grand-mother One of the reasons that I love Legend of the Phoenix so much (other than JT being great in it) is that it has a wonderfully written Empress and Empress Dowager.
This drama is based on this book https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-dreamer-in-the-spring-boudoir/In the…
For once I'm glad for censorship. I really hate the whole time travel/transmigration trope. It's such a lame device just to bring in a character that is slightly different (yet for some strange reason still knows exactly how to behave in a different century). I absolutely love the way they dealt with the stupid "time traveller" in Dong Lan Xue 😈
How does this whole twin thing work? Where is the original girl? And if she had a twin why is it not widely known?
I think the word "inexplicably" in the summary above is key here. Take it as a euphemism for "we couldn't be bothered to come up with a reason..." A kind person who has read the novel already gave an explanation of some of the most apparent plot holes in a reply below.
According to DramaWiki the ML is dubbed by a guy called Jing Xiang Shei Yi. Their voices sound quite similar,…
Yeah, I don't understand this either. On one hand there is supposedly a push to penalise actors who cannot do their own dubbing, and on the other hand, even the ones who could do it are still replaced by voice-actors. I read several comments that JT's deep voice was difficult to understand, but since the voice-actor has a similarly deep voice that doesn't really make any sense to me.
I loved the drama starting with a bang. What followed seems a bit incoherent: so the FL died and her body was…
Thanks for clearing this up. It's always good to have some novel readers around to fill in the gaps left by the screenwriters 😂 The thought of a modern person ending up in the FL's body had crossed my mind, because she comes across as rather modern. Of all the tropes used in dramas/novels, transmigration is probably the one I hate the most, so I'm happy for once about the censorship. Maybe the "twin sister" is just an incorrect translation of something else...
Please tell me FL is not childish & annoying.🤧I want to start this but cannot stand those annoying dubbed voices…
No, the FL isn't annoying, but the ML is! Boring, overbearing and stuck-up are the words that spring to mind. I dropped this because the whole "romance" is build on manipulation, lies and coercion which I found really off-putting. Read spoilers further down for more info.
Watched the first episode and this gives me some rather mixed feelings...
I loved the drama starting with a bang. What followed seems a bit incoherent: so the FL died and her body was taken over by another person who does not seem to know the previous owner of the body, so how could this be her twin sister. Also, what happened to the body of said twin sister? Why did she just move into this one? The whiny maid is definitely annoying, but at least the FL is better than the average FL in costume dramas (clever, independent and normal voice). The ML is not really likeable, why would any clever, independent woman want such an arrogant and rude guy who takes a concubine after four years of marriage. Not really good looking either... if, as we are told, he is the best-looking guy in town, this seems to be a really bad place to be. His fear of fire due to a childhood trauma reminds me of the boring ML in Love by Hypnotic. If I watch another episode it will be for the well-written (so far) FL, everything else seems rather meh.
