I feel most sorry for the actors who had to put up with such badly written roles that make them look stupid.
Yes, that must be incredibly frustrating for an actor. This is usually a major point of contention between actors and directors. In this drama, sadly both the writing and the editing is questionable. These guys somehow seem to think because it is xianxia common sense logic no longer applies.
this is rated 8 but 90% of the comments are blasting the plotline.... should I start watching this?
The bad writing and plot holes become more apparent as the drama progresses and many people are annoyed by this (especially since the source material was coherent and without these obvious plot holes). It would, however, be unfair to punish the actors and the rest of the production team for the poor writing by giving an overall low rating.
It's maybe not a bad thing if they delay the rating until the drama is finished. There are too many people giving out hate-ratings after watching just one episode and they are spoiling it for everyone else. The rating on MDL is pretty unreliable anyway, there are far too many bad dramas with 8+ rating just because there's some pretty idol-boy in them.
Same!!!! The two DNAβs or whatever must clash which makes her sick. What I want to know is why only the Prince…
I think it's something to do with him being from the Qi royal family. The Qi tribes seem to all have very different characteristics. Maybe her father was a dissident and cursed with something that only the royal family can heal... some sort of medical blackmail to keep him in line. It would explain his frequent trips to their territory.
I wish they added Jeremyβs favorite scene. https://youtu.be/6otO5f9Bukw
Aaah, pour JT looks like a bored adult visiting a kindergarden in this clip. This must be a tougher acting job than the actual drama... The fact that the director/editor didn't keep a scene that the ML described as his favourite says a lot about the bad editing/directing decisions that plague this drama.
YF pissing me off after watching the most recent eps like...the barrier shield thing he used to protect Chong…
Don't blame YF, blame the script-writers that seem to have no sense of logic and coherence. See Amy's post with the differences btw novel and drama for details of how this should have been.
Sloppy writing in recent episodes are a result of deviating from the novel without a good reason:In the novel…
Thanks for pointing this out. So for the script-writers "adapting a novel" seems to mean replacing any original idea with the same old tropes (misunderstandings, wardobe failure, etc. etc.) that we've already seen a thousand times. And why do they feel the need to make all the characters look stupid? Isn't that clown make-up already bad enough? It is normal that writing for the screen has to be different from a novel and if they toned down certain aspects of the novel it would be understandable, but they seem to take all the original material and turn it into something completely different! The same happened with Unchained Love where they tried to turn a rather dark novel into a stupid comedy. Forget about annoying SFLs, those screen-writers are at the top of my "must-be-sent-to-the- underworld list"!
My exact thoughts. A lot of new characters are being thrown at us so quickly. It's hard to digest it when we haven't…
Either people complain the pace is slow or they complain that there's too much information thrown at them in a short time. You can't please them all...
Initially I was suspicious that the masked guy may not be actually Mu Yan, felt it could be an imposter trying…
I think he is only nice to his little brother because little bro has no interest/ambitions in politics. He's definitely up to something and I wouldn't be all astonished if he was even plotting with the opposition in Qi. The murder of those ambassadors was very suspicious!
