Person Jeremy Xu
Make Jeremy the ML again 😑😭
I know that watching him as the obsessive second male lead who never gets the girl or as guest with all too brief screen time is torture, but so was watching him being the lead in low quality productions with hapless young actresses as his female lead.
He has the looks, the acting skills and the screen presence to carry a drama as the ML, so I wish for nothing more than to see him return as the lead BUT, it would have to be a drama worthy of him, not some costume trash that doesn’t even get a decent promotion by the platform.

You forgot Jeremy Xu from Royal Rumours lol
He is the ex-husband 😂
In Royal Rumours he got married to Meng Ziyi and in the currently airing drama Blossoms of Power he is her ex-husband.
I hope his role in this one is more positive and free from any torturous romantic entanglement. His fans need a break

The script is written by the same person and it is set in the same fictional historical universe. So far it is…
Haha, yes, that would have been a nice idea.
Who knows, there may be some parallels that we only find out about when watching.

I love her voice in historical drama so much and its wuxia martial arts too!
Well, in that case they could have just dubbed the ML and left everyone else out of it. Most people in there can say their lines properly. Plus they used some really bad voice artists that don’t fit the characters at all and some sound like simply reading the words off the script.
I think this is highly disrespectful towards the actors’ performance.

Pray that they get to keep their original voices and not be replaced by some low level voice artists.
I am watching Blossoms of Power at the moment and it was thoroughly ruined by robotic dubbing voices that don’t match the actors.

Anyone know how this is related to a Journey to Love?
The script is written by the same person and it is set in the same fictional historical universe. So far it is unknown if there will be an overlap with the same characters appearing in both dramas, but it looks unlikely.
The overall tone of this drama, which is described as an “emotional healing” story seems to be quite different from A Journey to Love (which was more emotionally devastating).

Is it any wonder that iQiyi are on the brink of bankruptcy? They keep giving top level drama productions to THIS kind of director! They could just as well just burn their money.
I think their beloved Ai should make the management decisions from now on.

Title Overdo
the intro is such a turnoff
The first scene in the intro looks like a commercial for life insurance đŸ€Ł

Still pessimistic about it until proven wrong. Who knows what kind of cost-cutting shortcuts iQiyi have taken…
There were quite a few such rumours flying around on Weibo and XHS. Enough to make it look credible.
Please don’t misunderstand my comment, I am not trying to put down the drama, I am just genuinely worried about the production quality because one of my favourites will star in it.

Yes, that was the original project. I am just wondering if it still is now.
I hope so, but I don’t trust iQiyi because they are broke.

Blame the scriptwriters. I really don’t know what Jeremy has done wrong in a past life to always be cast in…
Haha, I don’t think that being a famous actor is that much fun to be honest. There are eyes on you whatever you do (especially in China) and I prefer my freedom.
To get into the mindset for this role, Jeremy did neither sleep nor eat enough for four months and didn’t allow himself to be happy. To me this feels like too high a price to pay.
I also find it rather depressing that an actor of his skill and range is being typecast to play the same role over and over. He clearly would like to explore other roles but isn’t given any opportunity to do so. That must feel rather stifling.

Almost pessimistic about this drama, when finally saw Anyu & Maimai on set with their pretty hanfu
Still pessimistic about it until proven wrong. Who knows what kind of cost-cutting shortcuts iQiyi have taken to get this project started. There were a lot of rumours about the budget being downgraded and the number of episodes being reduced to 24.
I’ll be curious to see what will be announced on Tuesday

Prince Xin is really raising my blood pressure. He reminds me of his character in Love in Nirvana, I hated him…
Blame the scriptwriters.
I really don’t know what Jeremy has done wrong in a past life to always be cast in such ruined characters. Both his Pei Yan in LoN and Prince Xin were nice roles in the novel, but the scriptwriters keep adding the obsessive trope.
And the horrible dubbing voice doesn’t help either.

Prince Xin looks really weird with that eyeliner, not the best make up job.
The makeup is awful! They completely changed th3 shape of his eyes!

I did, and tbh I was tired reading it 😓 the political plots are amazing with 4 main villains. However I grew…
Haha,that’s exactly how I felt.
Sadly, the scriptwriters decided to ditch all the political stuff and only keep the boring relationship stuff. Way to ruin good source material!

Saw him recently in Archives and girl he's hot and that voice of his made me blush slightđŸ«Ł but how I wanna…
Slap the screenwriter instead. Prince Xin has suffered enough!
I also want to hit whoever decided to have him dubbed, it’ll probably be more like a heavy punch 😡

Jeremy Xu looks so different. It took me awhile to recognize him especially with that voice. It sounds nothing…
He looks a bit different because he lost a lot of weight specifically for this role to match Prince Xin’s state. At the time of filming he was down to 65 kg which for 184 cm, is really not much.
The dubbing voice is awful. It really ruins his otherwise stellar performance.
If you want to hear what he really sounded like, here is a scene with the original soundtrack

still waiting to see where this political tag comes in đŸ«
All the political stuff has been removed and replaced by the usual idol drama tropes. The purpose and context for the characters has been reduced to either chasing power or the FL.
