I started watching this on Amazon Prime Video in the US. Somehow I made it through 10 episodes and then was prompted that I need to pay MORE to watch the rest. Oh hell no. The only character I liked was the grandmother. Everything that's been said about how bad this is, I agree with. No need to beat it to death. I started watching because Han Dong was in it and I wanted to see how he would portray a non-villain role. I guess I look for something else.
I'm not planning on watching AoS Part 2 until it is completely aired and I see what people have to say about it. I didn't like the way they left the end of Part 1 and Jung So Min made AoS what it was. They were so lucky to have her strengths to portray such a complex character. I would rather just wait to see what she's doing next and watch that. No disrespect to the other actors, they were fine, but she's head and shoulders above them. Looking forward to her future projects.
I really, really dislike Sun Qi Ming character. I was totally grossed out when her dad told her that she should choose him over Lan Shi De. She reminded him that she broke up with SQM because he was a womanizer. And her father replied but he lets you hit him. OMG WTF! How is that the basis of a good relationship? I blame everything I dislike about this show totally on the writers. I am still enjoying it okay but it has some WTF moments.
I think In Joo is Jo. She's the main character. I agree Jo Hong is the closest match to Laurie. But this series…
This was mentioned above. The original novel is indeed a coming of age story. I think in some ways this series was as well although it took the older 2 sisters a little longer to "grow up".
I think the little is not about age, but about power.
The title is 100% about age. The original novel is a coming of age story. Now, how it translates to a different time and culture and how they adapted it is another story altogether.
I dont know why I feel In Kyung is Jo and Jo Hong is Laurie. And In Hye has to be Amy, man.
I think In Joo is Jo. She's the main character. I agree Jo Hong is the closest match to Laurie. But this series really barely resembles Little Women in any way. I think they played a bit of mix and match with the characters.
Didn't the original $54 million (70 billion won) come from the part of the funds that came from the Bobae Bank…
I think they left it open ended, we don't know what they will eventually do with the money. Well, I don't think In Hye or Hyo Rin are going to light the world on fire with their philanthropy but I do think the older two are still in flux. And let's face it, anything Hyo Rin does will be a vast improvement over her psycho parents even if she just travels the world and paints as much as she wants. We still don't know what In Kyung is going to do with the general's memoirs. She wants to go study. That won't use up all of her share. We are meant to believe that In Joo learned to value the people she loves and learned something about how greed destroys your life. She wanted the apartment but I don't think she has a 50 billion won ache for material things anymore. I also wouldn't assume that people wouldn't be compensated from the assets of the corporation since the truth is coming out and presumably justice will prevail. We know that 70 billion was a drop in the bucket and Song A only cared about it because someone got one over on her. Their companies were worth a lot more than that.
Also I think it seemed open ended with Oh In Joo and Choi Do Il but it really wasn't. These 2 clearly are not going to feel the same about anyone else that they feel about each other. I think we were given insights to that throughout the series, especially when they were in Singapore.
They didn't lay out the ending in obvious terms and tie it up nicely with a bow but I think we can see it and I feel optimistic for everyone. So I'm satisfied with the way it ended, regarding the money and the relationships.
Because it starts out really obnoxiously? I have 5 minutes left of the first episode and I'm so annoyed by it…
I don't drop a lot of dramas after one episode. I just really, really feel annoyed with this one. It's neither here nor there to me if a ton of people like it. Everyone is different. I'd rather spend my time watching something else. But you did ask why the rating was so low and I was offering a possible explanation.
the people dropping and getting disappointed because this drama doesn’t resembles the actual book are so miserable…
I'm enjoying the show a lot but I understand how some people who really expected an adaptation are disappointed. I would have watched it either way because of Kim Go Eun. But this isn't remotely like Louisa May Alcott's book. Honestly I like it better that it isn't.
Yeah many people agree, its opens up as an action/fantasy drama with some romcom elements but half way through…
Yeah, I get it. I think if it wasn't so heavy for me I could roll with the exploration of all the personas involved. It wouldn't make sense to me if Uk didn't stay in love with the soul he knows but on a practical level, one actress is not going to portray her the same as another and for me that is very distracting. This is a similar device they use on Dr. Who to change the actor playing the Doctor and every time they change it takes me quite a while to get used to it. I really lost interest in that show when Matt Smith left. Which I guess if you haven't ever seen Dr. Who might not exactly make sense but it's essentially the same with the character coming back in a different body. It has to be done very carefully or it doesn't work. And there's so much hanging on the romance at this point that it makes me nervous. Actually the one thing worse than changing actresses to me is if they kill off Naksu in the end and there is no happy ending at all. And with the Hongs I half expect that too.
Naksu is pretty mysterious person too. We only got a glance of the true Naksu when GYJ portrayed her as the merciless…
I need to feel invested in the characters to maintain an interest in a show, and by 20 episodes in if I don't really know who Naksu is then I am not going to be enthusiastic to invest any more time. Everyone likes different things so I get it if it doesn't bother people. I think there are also a lot of people who feel kind of like me.
I don't think the romance was the main focus, but more the power they both had/have I mean the 3 had. So Im ok…
Not exactly main focus but the relationship/connection between the two main characters is central to the story. This -is- a love story. It's the whole reason the ice stone still exists.
I can't go back and read all the posts, but I know there is a lot of discussion (and controversy) over them changing the main actress for part 2. To me it isn't really about this actress is better than that actress. The problem is that Naksu's persona has already been established by the acting of Jung So Min. It will be next to impossible for me to lose myself in the story and really see Go Yoon Jung as Naksu now. The real problem in my mind is that the character everyone is attached to is actually Mu Deok. Naksu and Jin Bu Yeon are in many ways secondary to her. I don't expect the writers to change anything now but I do feel very dissatisfied with the writing.
