I liked part 1 just fine but I think I probably won't watch part 2 unless/until I don't feel like I have anything better to watch. The romance is too central to the story and it isn't going to work for me to switch the female lead. ETA: I was going to rate it higher until the last 2 episodes. Now I'm going to wait and think about it because I have mixed feelings. It's the writing not the actors.
I've started posting and then deleted so many times. I'm neurodivergent. I have SCD not ASD, which I've seen described more than once as ASD without the repetitive behaviors. So yes, like other neurodivergent people who have posted here I have taken more than a passing interest in how Attorney Woo was portrayed.
I think Park Eun Bin did a stellar job but there were some aspects of the show that I found problematic and it mainly relates to the romance. I think they salvaged it a little bit in the end as WYW and LJH discussed their relationship. I was happy how they left it in the end although not knowing how they were going to resolve it left me extremely dissatisfied through the mid-section of the series.
I can't tell you the number of times I see people comment on the lack of chemistry between leads in a drama and I just don't see it. I'm pretty sure it's an aspect of my disorder that makes me oblivious to some subtleties in human relationships. On the up side, it lets me enjoy more dramas that probably drive a lot of other people crazy. So it was quite an interesting experience for me to see all the comments here raving about the chemistry because for me it wasn't there. Part of it related to where on the spectrum WYW was portrayed to fall and also I agree with the people commenting that there was a serious lack of character development for LJH. They established early on that WYW struggled badly with connecting emotionally with her father and this often left him feeling lonely. But then somehow she's able to forge an emotional connection with LJH when she couldn't do that with her own father? I think they resolved it well in the end when she described herself with some amazing self-awareness as typically being the center of her own thoughts. It also seemed that they would proceed more carefully with the relationship in the future. However I had to sit through a few episodes not liking or enjoying the development of the romance before they got to that point. I didn't score the drama as high as the overall score and it was entirely due to this.
Yeah, although I feel bad for Park Hye-soo, who was originally casted and reportedly "fired" after the filming…
Oh yes, I don't blame her at all. That was on casting and they should have realized they needed someone with more experience. Mu Deok/Naksu is an extremely complicated role. I also didn't realize she was fired, I thought she stepped back. I hope she will go on to bigger and better things. She just lacked experience for this role.
The number of watchers and users who rated AoS are increasing. I'm so happy to see it. But I really want atleast…
Unless they do something unforgivable to screw things up I am definitely giving this one a high score, but I don't give anything a score until I finish watching it. There are probably a lot of people like me waiting until it finishes.
As someone who barely cries while watching any dramaep 3 got me in tears
Same. I have a developmental disorder similar to ASD and I was on the fence about this show. Episode 3 blew me out of the water. Some of these episodes are hard for me to get through and I have to take breaks.
Wasn't expecting the cover of Neutral Milk Hotel in episode 8 but everything about this was stellar. Have to agree that Lee Min Ho has taken it to another level. Looking forward to more seasons.
I can't recommend this one. I just can't even with all the things that were problematic here. Other people have already pointed a lot of it out. I don't even want to think about it anymore.
I think the non-Chinese actors are speaking with Chinese style speech patterns. If you listen, a lot of the Chinese…
The actors aren't talking that way, they're dubbed. And it's totally for the Mandarin market because to a native speaker of American English it is completely jarring. I see it a lot in many Asian programs. I don't fault this one in particular for that when it is common. It's just one of those things that I find a bit distracting but have to try to overlook to enjoy the good parts of the shows. If some other elements are lacking, it just contributes to bringing it down more. It's really funny when the Chinese person speaks better English than the person who is supposed to be a native speaker. I've seen that too.
What makes it harder is that the American is dubbed with a non-native accent and I recognize the actress.
Hmm, looked up the actress and it wasn't who I thought. However she supposedly speaks English without an accent and this is not someone speaking without an accent.
I'm in the middle of this drama and I'm debating dropping it. Not for the acting but the writing. I intensely dislike most of the characters. These don't seem like friendships worth rekindling.
Not for the "woke" people of the new generation. C'mon guys. This drama is based on Itazura Na Kiss manga that…
Time is precious. Nobody -has- to give this one a chance just because it was okay for its time. I'm still trying to give it a chance but I don't even like most of the characters so it's hard. I like Jung So Min or I would have dropped it right away. If people like it that's fine but no one has to accept it and put their time into it just because it's a time capsule.
Congratulations on your first article! I am enjoying this show a lot. I don't get the people complaining about the gender thing. This is a pretty common plot device in both K-drama and C-drama. I think the actress is doing an amazing job.
sameeeee. can we have Dam-i to keep being the crown princess afterwards? hmm who gonna take the throne? so the…
I'm rooting for the cousin to become king. Of course I am rooting for the main couple romance-wise but I think the cousin has the qualities of a good king and he's definitely a good guy to keep her secret.
