Li Jia Qi makes this show. Plus she and Zhao Yi Qin have incredible chemistry together. I like Wait My Youth more but the chemistry is here too. Some of the BTS I've seen of them leaves me shaking my head, like if there really isn't something between them then they are both damn good actors. Plus I don't think Li Jia Qi steps out of character once she is in it...anyway...I liked all the characters, parts of the story were very amusing, I enjoyed the acting. But I agree the premise is thin. You just can't take it too seriously and I don't think we are meant to. The last 2 episodes and the way they ended the show were not too interesting either. I ding it for that. I have shows that I go back to and rewatch all or part when I am having a bad day. I don't regret watching this but I also don't think I would watch it again. Maybe in a year if I am bored and/or my work gets shut down for the pandemic again.
I am so thankful that they didn't butcher Li Jia Qi's hair in this one! What is the deal with how often they give the FL a terrible hairstyle in so many shows?!
If you're interested in watching this drama, but are hesitant to, then I'd just go for it and give it a chance.…
I gave this a kind of high rating for me because my husband doesn't like K- or C- drama much and he wanted to watch this with me. We spent a lot of time talking about where we thought the writer was trying to take things and what things meant or wondering how it was going to be explained. I actually thought the show had a deep cast and a lot of good acting. Especially Woo Do Hwan and Kim Kyung Nam. I think the fact that people have so many different takes on what they thought explained things was actually also a point in the show's favor, because a lot was left open to the imagination. I also am not bothered by the science because LOL it isn't real science. It's science fiction/fantasy. The ending definitely could have been more dramatic but it didn't bother me that much either. I think maybe people's expectations coming into it probably also influenced how let down they felt by it. I had zero expectations going into it. It was a great diversion from the current reality that I enjoyed with my husband. That worked for me.
i haven't watched this drama yet but most chinese dramas are dubbed! :-)
I wondered about that. One thing I find extremely distracting as a native English speaker is when characters who are supposed to be native English speakers are dubbed by someone with a pronounced Chinese accent.
My husband is watching this with me and I think that says a lot. He doesn't like most of these shows. He has made fun of a couple of the tropes but he's still watching it.
I watched this on youtube and I don't know if that was part of why it felt so disjointed. I think the editing was terrible though. Don't think that was youtube. It was an okay way to pass time on stay at home orders. I watched for Xing Fei.
My god, the FL is so skinny! Her legs are so thin and weak-looking, I fear for her every time she runs.
I know, I found it so distracting and disturbing. I've looked like that many years ago and I was quite ill, so...I hope she is okay and doing well now.
