It was pretty good up until ep 25 then it went downhill fast and I had to start skipping parts that got dragged out and boring. I’ve seen many complaints about the script and I have to agree it felt like it was written by a teenager with little to none dating experience. The character interactions were at times unrealistic, stupid or plainly absurd. We were shown many conversations that managed to convey absolutely nothing and thus created secrets and chaos in the lives of our characters. The show is centred around the field of economics yet it only delves into it as far as Chinese Chips good for China, good for the economy. Bai Lu had previously done another drama set in the field of investment banking but that one in comparison really did talk some economics. What ruined it for me was that the biggest conflict in this drama was partially caused by a best friend that gave the worst advise, a supposedly smart female lead that for some reasons took said advice, a fight between the main couple that lasted 5 episodes when it could have been resolved by a simple “I’m sorry I love you” text massage, a female lead that is a professional journalist but lost her ability to speak when it really mattered, the countless suitors, her making friends with some of those suitors, the work nemesis that failed to make the connection between Shi Yan who she knew dated the female lead and Shi Yue’s uncle and making up those rumours about her dating a married man, and the lists goes on. The point is there was so much stupidity and a sprinkle of toxicity that a drama that was worth, in my eyes, a nice 8-8.5 till after the mid point turned out to be a charitable 6 at the end.
They've stripped their souls to each other which they've never done before, and that just happened in the short…
Exactly when did they strip their souls to each other beside the one episode in which she tells him about her father? What did he actually tell her about himself? Did he tell her about his struggles with his parents and family? About his actual diagnosis? about the visions of the hot and cold hands? About his morals? About his childhood? Most of their talks were nonsensical bickering. The bickering I actually like though, because they seem to mirror his parents but even that relationship wasn’t painted as an actual loving one and the mother seems to lack affection from her husband. On the surface they do seem like a destined couple and they love each other and want to protect one another but like I said before when you look deeper there’s a lack of depth and foundation. Like the one major character traits she has which is kindness that he seems to be oblivious about. There’s not one moment when he really appreciates her goodness or when we’re shown him doubting his Ex’s version of events from their childhood on account of his knowledge of the FL’s character or him getting angry at his Ex for slapping the FL. I get all of what you and others commented to me about but I guess we see this drama through different lenses.
They are both lonely people who found a kindred spirit in and a place of comfort with each other. With each other…
Yes the father’s memorial on the beach and the following scenes were the few moments that i could tell contributed to their mutual feelings and were lovely. Still I think we get too much nonsensical proclamations of love and too little deep conversations or moments of actually connecting. I wish they had shown us a more complex relationship between the two.
I don’t think Shin Yu can even tell why he loves Hong Jo. Their relationship has no depth. Does he appreciate her kindness?I don’t get the feeling that he does. At first it was the spell, then he thought he just loved her and was confused, now he apparently loved her in a previous life. But what exactly do they love in each other?
OKAY hear me outWhen HongJo told him about how NaYeon slapped her, he didn't really react the way I was expecting.…
There are so many dramas that I wished the ML had this sort of epiphany moment. Here you got that feeling after the slap scene. I got this feeling when the ML told the FL that she deserves to eat alone and should reflect on herself after his then girlfriend told him the FL tried to steal her crush as teens. That was such a hit below the belt and especially cruel after how sad she was telling him she was always alone. And then, this is a petty one but today he called her ugly while she called him pretty. That interaction pretty much sums up their relationship dynamic.
FL didn’t have any relationship with Ml up until he told he broke up…it’s not glorified cheating if ML and…
Addressing the issue does not absolve them. They can give a thousand excuses but telling another girl while being engaged you love her is cheating. Seeking physical contact with her while engaged to another is cheating. Going to her house without the fiancé’s knowledge is cheating. He made the right decision when he first broke up with his girlfriend before getting engaged he should have never got back together with her or at least broke it of sooner. Spin it however you want. Even if his Ex is manipulative and also cheats on him, cheating is cheating. And here everyone Cheats.

No I think you should understand what I wrote first before replying because the connection between your reply and my points is random at best. Also, why are you so smug in the comments? I see you and some others here replying to different opinions with this “it’s so complex for your understanding” type of mindset that it gets me perplexed. We can just have different takes on things. Not a vanilla script, sure. This script is a MESS. The Beauty of Rowoon can’t save it. If you’d like a good recommendation from me for what I consider a genre mix with quality script and non linear plot go watch “Someday or Oneday” or “When the Camellia Blooms”.

Since when does fantasy negate the normal process of falling in love? I read plenty of fantasy and watched a respectable number of dramas to be able to comfortably state that what you said there is broken logic and mostly untrue. Bad plot is bad plot and you can like it (I also liked it to some degree up until today’s episode) and defend it even but there’s no denying the fact that the show is wholly dependent on the cheating elements. Without the ML and FL seemingly cheating the stalker has no reason to contact the Ex girlfriend, the Ex girlfriend cheating is needed to cement her as a villain, the two timing accusations is needed to make it seem as though the ML’s involvement with the FL is leading her to ruin to connect the present with past tragedies. Now you can blame it on fantasy but I blame it on poor writing and lack of imagination.
FL didn’t have any relationship with Ml up until he told he broke up…it’s not glorified cheating if ML and…
Oh come on you can’t be serious especially since even the drama doesn’t back that up. The ML already broke up with his girlfriend once because of guilt, in the early episodes, when he first fell in love with the FL and thought it a result of a spell in addition to his sickness weighing on him. Then when she proposed to him and promised to stay by his side throughout everything he felt guilty again and accepted but that didn’t stop him from continuing to pursue the FL, at least not for long, and coming up with different excuses for it. The FL also didn’t stop engaging in different spell related activities with him, going on walks, having talks and so on(though as I said the fault is mostly his). You would not wish for your own boyfriend or girlfriend to behave like him while in a relationship with you right? Also the main couple isn’t even the only one cheating, the ML’s Ex is cheating, and even the mom has this strange companionship with his best friend causing people to ship them. Even other characters accuse the main couple of cheating. So we get a ton of excuses for their relationship starting as it did: because of a spell/potion, because his Ex is also a cheater, because his Ex is also a villain not just a cheater, because they were lovers in their past lives and finally judging buy the name of the drama because they are destined with each other. Also this is minor but even the FL’s team leader skips on his blind date to get with the manager and uses his blind date on multiple occasions to get the manager jealous. This drama is full of moral ambiguity.
The way everyone just ignores how problematic this drama is because the leads are pretty.
Completely agree. Just watched the recent episode and couldn’t even milk it for a little enjoyment. Almost every relationship is a mess and nothing here is romantic if you think about it rationally. beside his constant excessive and previously unwanted procrastinations of affection he is also demeaning whenever it is time to compliment her. Also how he told her that it’s no wonder she eats alone when she tried to steal her best friends boyfriend and that she should consider maybe she is the problematic one and then proceeds to cheat with her? Where is the romance? And sure people can say it’s not only a romance but in my opinion it doesn’t do any of it’s genres well.
This drama is a mess. It was enjoyable at the beginning but now even rooting for the main couple is difficult. Honestly I don’t find many of the behaviours here as romantic, at some point it felt like a glorified cheating drama instead of the initial quirky comedy thriller romance. At this point it is just frustrating. And to add fuel to the fire they added slut shaming to the mix going of photos that show nothing of the sort (I did not miss those kinds of scenes in dramas). That’s not to say you can’t criticise the FL’s behaviour here at all because she did have a not so appropriate relationship with an engaged man although I hold him mostly accountable for that. His behaviour, spell or not (even on account of the spell it was excessive) is exactly the type of behaviour people criticised Jo Yi Seo from Itaewon class (although there I haven’t felt her behaviour has crossed a line yet or at least it was more of a slightly inappropriate conduct) while here it was over the top and perceived as oh so romantic and refreshing judging by most of what I saw, read or heard. Such a shame because I did like it a lot at the beginning. I doubt it will redeem itself in my eyes going forward. 5/10
It angers you? Like chill lolYou don't have much credibility to me for someone who rated 200 pound beauty 9 stars,…
And if you’re that bothered by someones innocent remark that they’re angry at the scriptwriters for the less than optimal scrip in their opinion enough to take it literally than I suggest you maybe part with you keyboard for a while, relax and take a cold cold bath. You know, to settle down and take a break from worshiping your own opinions 🤭

I guess for you any logic other than yours is broken logic. The only true anger here is yours trying as you might to discard different opinions on a drama that you like. Calling out anger in others while trolling them and even going so far as to check their profile to make a laughing stock of their likes and dislikes, that is some deep rooting anger right there. I’d consider checking yourself for hypocrisy. But I guess this kind of behaviour is how you get your self worth so go ahead troll away ;)
