On My Lovely Liar Sep 4, 2023
Honestly I liked it in the beginning but the acting is subpar. The male lead is handsome yes but not yet a good actor. Maybe he’ll get better in the future and maybe not ( I also wasn’t impressed by him in Alchemy of Souls). I acknowledge the drama is funny at times but it completely losses its charm in the more serious parts because of the acting and sometimes because of the cheesy lines.

Maybe she would have liked it more if the drama was less corny and the acting better. Just a thought.

I think you should chill. Are you a creep? What does her previous rating of other dramas have to do with anything? This is a drama comment section. Just as you can express your thoughts and what you like about this drama in the comments so can she. Are you a child? What is this trolling for?
Her credibility? By your logic what is your credibility after ratings Extraordinary You a 1 star? If the majority of MDL liked it while you didn’t does it lessen the credibility of your opinions?

And it only took you a year to watch it from when I first recommended it. If you ask me Someday or One day has a better tighter plot.

I don’t think it’s possible, reasons being The soul contains the power of their energies. And so is the memories.…
That’s right. The biggest reason I loved season one beyond the romance was that it felt like a progression fantasy (my favourite kind) where the main characters cultivate their energy, improve through training and fight. This season lacks action. It would have been alright if he demonstrated his powers and everyone would cower away from him all the time. That way he truly could have been this dark over powered character that hates the world and failed to protect his lover. They could have leaned more heavily on the emotional side restraining him from causing chaos because his love for everyone else and of course Bu Yeon showing up in his life. Instead we got a two maybe three minute discussion why he hadn’t killed the prince and Jin Mu which honestly are not convincing enough. I felt nothing while watching it. And also a whole episode was dedicated to turn him from a passive character to an active one.

Hey, maybe Jin Mu stashed her body somewhere and used that mouse from Jinyowon as well. Everything goes as long as it’s a happy ending.

I really regret watching it while airing. These plot twists are killing me.. My belief of having a happy ending…
You know you can look at it this way, if the plot keeps moving for a sad ending that’s probably not the ending we’ll get. Previous season the plot kept moving toward a happy love story and we got a blade in the heart and two dead MCs. I’ll keep my positive thoughts for now.

You should watch Someday or Oneday some similarities with AOS although minor but tight plot and a different kind of fantasy. But that’s a masterful example at two souls one body.

“Naksu’s soul will soon disappear from that body. Once the Soul of Jin Bu Yeon the true owner of that body awakens, Naksu’s soul will disappear”
“Two souls share that body”.
I doubt the writers resurrected her for the second time to present her with her third death in the end, otherwise it’s poor writing. The same way if you ever watched or read One Piece Luffy’s brother Sabo was resurrected after dying as a child, than there were news of his death and for a lot of chapters he was presumed dead but he was alive at the end because you just don’t resurrect characters to kill them again without it serving some deep meaning.
Naksu will not truly die again because there is no point to it. Her body died so that she could shift souls (thirst death) , she died again after she drowned because she had to kill Junk Uk for him to get the Ice stone(second death) if she dies truly and finally for the third and last time there will be no point to the plot and no pay off to anything. Jung UK’s purpose is to save the one he loves. To save her he had to die to get the ice stone and so did she. Master Lee would have saved and erased her memory for nothing too.
If we look at Bo Yeon she also died as a child (for her family at least). She had to die because she had to become Mu Dok so that Naksu will try to switch bodies with her so that they would be stuck together in the same one. She died again along with Naksu in the lake so that Naksu can become her for a time. But why is she still stuck almost dead in a body with another soul when Naksu supposedly can’t die again?
Only solution I see is for them both to love Uk and merge into one. Bu Yeon’s body and Naksu’s face. Otherwise we didn’t even need to change actresses. Every sign point to this direction or something similar.

All good points I guess we will wait and see but one thing for sure they underestimated the number of episodes they need to tell the story. Or maybe they waisted the current ones. First two episodes had stellar pacing then it slowed for no apparent reason.
I’ll remind you though that Bu Yeon’s soul is supposedly dead there are traces of it but it’s an incomplete soul I doubt it can be resurrected . That’s what master Lee said in the first episode if we take his word for it. I still think they will merge souls but I even if they don’t as long as our leads stay alive in someway or another and are happy I’m good.

No that’s not what he said and I used his wording in my theory. He never said Bu Yeon’s soul will take over. He said there were only traces of her soul left when the body was saved. As soon a Bu Yeon’s body recovers it’s powers and the memory spell breaks Naksu’s soul will be rejected and Bu Yeon’s soul will need to take over but it wouldn’t be able to because it is almost completely dead . However, if their souls blend it will creat a complete compatible soul for the body which is neither Naksu nor Bu Yeon. And yes if they blend Naksu’s soul disappears because it turns into something else which can no longer be considered Naksu. It’s both death and a rebirth in a sense.

To put my thoughts on this simply, I believe he intended for Naksu’s soul to survive in Bu Yeon’s body living hopefully happily unaware of her past and in balance within that body.
Her soul will merge with the residuals of Jin Bu Yeon’s soul because we were told Jin Bu Yeon’s soul is essentially dead and thus will disappear. There will no longer be Naksu as Naksu but two poor souls that blended together. That’s a long theory that’s why I wrote this long ass comment explaining it. I do believe they both will choose this or at least naksu will submit to it.
In the end when we no longer have Mu dok, Bu Yeong or Naksu we will have Cho Yeong.
And Yes Master Lee is a trickster and is a plot devise to create unnecessary drama.
Had a discussion with my best friend after today’s episode which left us with a few thoughts:
1. First, Jin Bu Yeon’s soul was supposed to be dead. Master Lee previously gave Mama Jin two options: either save Bu Yeon’s body but only Naksu’s soul will remain or let both your daughter’s body and Naksu’s soul die together. Mama Jin chose to save her daughter’s body despite her soul’s supposed death to use as an incubator for the next great Jin priestess to be born of her great genes 🧬.
2. Second, there is a recurring motive surrounding babies 👶 this season. Beginning with Naksu’s role as an incubator, continuing with a baby witness. Then there was Jung Uk’s proposition of donating his sperm instead of his heart to Bu Yeon. And finally in today’s episode Bu Yeon’s lack of pregnancy leads her to play a part in the saving of Yul and to come in contact with the fire egg which also has a significant role this season. I think the baby concept is a foreshadowing because it can either be that or a misdirection that makes zero sense in context os the show. I really believe we will see Uk being a Dada this season final and of course the mom will be Cho Yeong/Naksu. Nothing is mentioned in a story so much for no reason.
3. Bu Yeon doesn’t have Naksu’s Memory beside maybe the big tree. But her personality is too noble, jentle and flowery as my friend put it and even if Naksu\Cho Yeong hadn’t experienced all she had as a child we have no clue of her being like that. We do however know of Bu Yeon’s character as a child which maches her current behaviour although with a splashes of Naksu here and there.
4. We are told that when Bu Yeon’s powers return she will regain her memory as Naksu, the body will loose it’s balance and Naksu’s soul will disappear. But why did they choose to say that her soul will disappear instead of saying that she will finally die or seize to exist or that Bu Yeon will die? Probably, and that’s my theory here, because Bu Yeon won’t die as a result of Naksu’s soul disappearing and instead Bu Yeon will take back control of her own body. Usually when Alchemy of Souls is used people switch souls between two bodies but Bu Yeon’s soul never left her body. Initially it was her soul that was “trapped” in Mu Dok’s body(her own) thanks to her potent energy as the strongest priestess of the Jin family. Next it was Naksu’s soul which was trapped in The body while they were drowning and used as sustenance for the host body to survive. Thus Cho Yeong no longer has her energy as Naksu to suppress Bu Yeon’s priestly energy and she would no longer be able to live in that body because of imbalance.
5. The conclusion to all of this is that Bu Yeon’s soul was slowly dying or disappearing while Naksu took control of her body (Mu dok’s) and while Naksu’s energy suppressed Bu Yeon’s energy it allowed her to slowly regain her power as the strongest assassin but then they drowned. Two souls were trapped then in the body of Mu Dok/Bu Yeon. When they were rescued there were residuals of Bu Yeon’s soul which was dying and Naksu’s remaining energy that was used to help the body survive. Now we have two incomplete souls one in worse shape than the other and the stronger remaining soul doesn’t match the body nor does it have the energy reserves to control it. So a solution was offered to erase Naksu’s memory making her believe she is Bu Yeon and not rejecting the body. As soon as she started to try to use her powers as Bu Yeon the body started to cultivate the energy of the priestess feeding the other soul and slowly rejecting Naksu’s soul as Master Lee’s Memory spell dissipates. Hence the order of the things he emphasizes.
6. As for our theory, we believe Bu Yeon and Naksu will choose to merge their souls. Naksu’s Soul won’t disappear in a moment and Bu Yeon’s soul was dying so Naksu\Cho Yeong will probably come to the understanding that if things continue as they are her original soul will blend permanently with Bu Yeon’s and she will cease to exist as herself or her former self but she will still choose to go down that rode.
7. We spent the last 3 episodes with Bu Yeon searching for her room/her place so that she could discover herself. But why did we not search for her true identity from the start? Well, most likely because she knows she can’t live as Bu Yeon the strongest priestess and the heir to the Jin Family (the true Bu Yeon is dead) . She can’t live as Naksu the strongest assassin who killed her lover and Bu Yeon’s Father. She will be left with Cho Yeong (hence the light in light and shadow). There was no way for either Naksu or Bu Yeon to stay alive as them selves. They both died twice in the show already so a third resurrection is unlikely only if they live as a different entity- Cho Yeong with the blended soul of the two.

There’s nothing wrong with fanservice, I aqually like it very much in dramas but I could literally see her jumping on him to the tub instead of it being more of an accidental fall so it felt a little bit poorly made. People in the comments feel the need to explain to me how Kdramas, especially historical ones, work even though I’ve been watching them for almost 14 years now. I get what you all are saying and agree with parts of it. But I ranted my opinion because this kind of behavior irked me all the time while watching and I didn’t enjoy it so no amount of explaining would change that. Regardless of social messages in dramas and whether there should be any I do believe there should be some awareness to how things may be perceived and normalized in people’s mind. You see things too much and they sink to your subconscious that’s how ads work and the same is true for behaviors on TV. This drama is good and I like it but I feel there are some scenes it could do without and that there are too many moments of problematic behavior which are redundant. There are too many forced kisses and too many let me check kisses and plenty of other problematic stuff on TV and things that are wrong are wrong regardless of the era and should be painted as such.

I understand how you feel but please take into consideration the fact that this is a historical drama...the characters…
A. This is not a documentary that’s why I said that tone matters.
B. are there really evidence that he actually acted that way towards her or are you confusing fiction to what you believe history looked like.
I can and we all should expect modern sensibilities in a historical drama but in a way that fits the story and its tone and theme. This is primarily a romance and it was done in bad taste.
