I am in bl heaven. …Love in the BIg City, Jack and Joker, Let the Curse of Taekwondo Be Free and now Kidnap….that last scene with Min and Q was hot…I swear Ohm looks more buff in every scene. I have completely forgot about the storyline. I just wait for the part where he takes off his shirt. Lol
Hyeon is like a bad toothache that just wont go away. The only solution is to get rid of it! We will probably have to endure him for at least two more episodes. Looks like it is going to be a rough ride but my money is still on Do Hoe and Yeong.
I am having a ball looking at all the clips with Yoon-su, JIn Ho-eun and the rest of this dynamite cast. No apologies….just sincere admiration for one another and thanks to all their supporters. I have already watched it twice and the second time was just as fulfilling as the first time. This has certainly been a good years for bl series. Among my favorites are 4minutes, Century of Love, My Stand-In, Jazz For Two, Last Twilight and now Love In the Big City. I cant wait for Jack and Joker, Kidnap, and Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo to end.
How much do I love this work of art? Lol..after binge watching all episodes I am rewatching. There are just so many awesome moments. When I watch I dont really think this is gay. I think….this is life. Heterosexual or gay life happens. I still remember my college days and early twenties. I laugh at some of my friends. They got older. They found God….and suddenly they got amnesia. I recall those years. Thank God it was long before cellphones and social media. I look at this and see so many similarities. The people, the situations, the highs and the lows transcend ones sexual preference. What happens to Young can and does happen to any of us. That’s what I love about this series. It’s like walking down memory lane for me. So many hits and misses….but I did meet the love of my life and so will Young. Take care. Need to experience another gem ? I recommend Jack and Joker.
This was a hard episode to watch….so much angst and so much pain and not just for Jack and Joker. The side couples are going through some emotional mess of their own….lol even Jack’s boss is having a bad time( deservingly so) Next week looks like another week of mayhem and havoc! I am loving this series but I will be so glad when Jack and Joker finally confess their feelings for each other and join forces.
What an absolutely beautifully done artistic commentary on the life of a young gay man. Perhaps it is because I am so much older that I actually did not find this to be sad or depressing. Certainly there were some aspects of his life and that of his friends and partners that touched my heart. But at the end I was actually smiling because through the years he found a resilience and an understanding of who he actually was as a person. At the end he chose himself….he chose to be his authentic self. What a wonderful journey of self love. And he could not have done it without having gone through the murk and the fire. I keep remembering this was his personal journey. This was no romanticized make believe version of life as a gay person. This was told from a very realistic viewpoint and I applaud how the various issues were depicted. Whether one agrees or not this is how it is for many in this community. I know. I grew up at the height of the HIV epidemic in my country. I remember watching as professional basketball players walked off the floor and refused to play with another star player. I have a young relative who I pray is still alive because our family rejected him and both his mother and his father disowned him and cast him out. I attended a family wedding in which the groom felt he could suppress his true desires and pray it away. It ended in heartache for he and his bride. But through it all he and his bride came out victoriously in my eyes. They acknowledged his truth. They dissolved the union but several years later they remain close friends. So for me this was a story of life. One other thing I loved about this series. Who wouldnt love to have three friends like Young had. They were with him through the good and the bad times. Whether he and his true love reunite is left up to fate but going forth I just felt that he had found the greatest love of all at the end - self love. So glad all episodes were released at the same time. I binge watched in one afternoon. There were no intrusive third party ex lovers suddenly surfacing, no non consensual/ rape scenes, no boring side stories. The focus was all about Young and I enjoyed going on this journey with him. This goes on my rewatch list.
I started not to watch but glad I did…the best line in episode 1….Nam - I cant live without you. Young - I can. Lol…actually this may be about gay life but it reminds me of my own dating experiences in college. I read where someone said this series is depressing. Maybe because I am so much older now it just seems like a realistic depiction of life. Only criticism is it being listed as a bl. To me it is more of a gay series. There actually is a difference . So far so good. The 8.1 rating seems accurate.
they’re supposed to be high school seniors going to college, they should be at least 18. the minimum legal age…
I didnt think about that. Where I live most teenagers start driving at 16….in the rural areas even 14 yr olds drive. As far as the drinking it’s like a teenage right of passage. I am not saying it is right but it is what it is.
Ohm and Leng are so good together. Ohm has had other partners…I hope this one sticks…I really liked ep 7. This is like the calm before the storm. Seeing the two just being so transparent and sweet with each other is the prelude to the chaos and turmoil that I know is coming.
I really hate high school dramas like this. Probably because I taught high school. The depiction of Class 2 is unfortunately very realistic. I hope they continue to give us the back story of these students. I couldnt believe what some of my students had to do just to survive. In my own district two high schools were merged. Needless to say the first year was a rough one. Just today a friend who is still teaching said the girls fight more than the boys at her school.Like in this series the schools had been rivals. I love the cast. They include some of my favorite actors. The twins are always a treat and I see the couple who were in Moonlight Chicken. This is going to be a real roller coaster of a ride. Expect alot of angst and physical plus mental pain. If you are easily triggered this might not be your cup of tea. I hope they provide warnings especially if scenes address suicide and/or sexual abuse.
favorites….the twins are always a real treat. It looks promising.
When it starts off on such a high note I know I might as well get my box of tissues out….the writing, the acting, the visuals…..all on point! Only two episodes and I am hooked!
If there's one thing you should remember, it's that most comments here on MDL are exaggerated.I mostly skim through…
You are absolutely correct . I usually do as you do and skim through the comments because I like to form my own opinion. I guess I was put off when someone said this should have been labeled a tragedy. How some of the ghosts died may be tragic but this is definitely a comedy. Tay and New are so much fun to watch. Halloween is a few weeks away and this series fits right in.
I am loving this version so far much better than the 2014 version. They have make some updates which are in tune with current times i.e. the trans character. I think that was handled in a very positive manner. All the boys are so cute and they really act like the teenagers they are. I know drama is coming but so far the execution and the storyline is entertaining and fun.
