About the ghost the FL says "Even if she was a ghost I would still want to see her" isn't this the way we feel about some people who have died. Just one more chance to see them or speak to them. So it ties in with the whole theme of death in the movie and how the ones left behind have all sorts of feelings(grief, nostalgia, sadness or remembering)
One of those movies, I want to keep a personal copy of because it's so deep and profound at its exploration of the meaning of life and death, grief and all about being a human being. It uses its characters, setting and props to tell a deep story. "The fact that he sold his most expensive tombstone for a pet, while people couldn't afford it and that there was a whole department of uncollected human remains people with no name in the end.
I personally think being a human being is a ridiculous burden that a few people feel.
It was both funny and profound, the way you just didn't have personal space reminded me of what all humans need.
Don't tell me who is the trouble maker in this film😂🤣. I have a feeling I know. Is it same actor who always acting as the cheater/scumbag in many Cdrama?
I wish people were this supportive in real life. It was really a sweet drama. Some really important questions asked in this drama about life, happiness and putting yourself first.
Great movie about grief, moving on and the changes in life. The island setting is really beautiful, calm and give you that homey Japanese feel. Even Mahasiro Higashide was kind of good in it. Sad that he did what he did. He seems very talented as an actor.
My biggest problem with the movie was that the ML seems to be happier being taken care of by the women in his life rather than taking responsibility for his own life and actions. He seemed indecisive and couldn't make up his mind.
We live in a world that's full of so much tragedy and this movie tries to reimagine what it I would feel like if all the people that die tragically spoke to their loved ones one last time or if victims could at least ask the perpetrator why they did it.
Its about grief, and moving on. It seems even those that die young need to make peace with the fact that their life was stolen from them.
Its not a happy movie even though it has happy moments. But I was reminded of all the kids that don't get to return home because of violence and what grief and sadness their parents and loved one must feel. The people that survive but can't move on because of PTSD and survivor's guilt.
So the police just let people talk to suspects, and they're not even curious about what they are talking about. Not to mention that other misogynistic bufoon detective. Which court would allow his evidence to be used in court even after he did all that? So in the end, nothing makes sense to me.
Okay, this was a really sad movie. I know how the samurai class story disposition is a story of our own world. It's more than a movie; it speaks to power and how those with power are sometimes less compassionate to the needs of ordinary people. I understood when he kicked the red samurai suit, with everything happening in the world right now, I want to kick power too. I also understood the closing scene when the powerful bow to the red samurai suit and speak of their allegiance to it. They don't care about the values they pretend to uphold, it's about the power and the status never the values.

I watch a few jidaigeki and honestly most of them move really slow and it's always about the morals, revenge, samurai class grievances, poverty, etc. They rarely move as fast as movies like Rurouni Kenshin, which is based on a manga.
This particular movie kind of reminded me of "The Twilight Samurai" with Hiroyuki Sanada.
