The script writer really hated the FL she is the only that seems to have lost alot in the show. From losing her husband to losing her house to losing her best friend. She just kept losing things.
I had a few issues with this drama and struggled to believe if Li Zijun and He Han were really in love or does He Han just prefer a damsel in distress. It never really feels like Zijun becomes an independent woman or be confident in her own abilities.
I hated how the ex-hubby seemed to abandon his son and never really steps up as a father, that was the most heartbreaking part of this drama and how he was just a sheep with no thought or opinion. Watching him gave me negative feelings all the time. Annoying little man.
If you see this, may you please let me know the title of the Book and the author. Thanks in advance.
if you use the nurture vs nature debate, what then will you say about the FL. She grew up in the same environment with them but turned out differently and was able to fight against the oppression from her parents.
There is also an element of generational cycle of abuse in the story, so I'm a bit sympathetic to the father as he was married to a domineering woman that controlled all aspects of his life. The children had potential to break free from the cycle, that's why I'm kind of disappointed in them.
You also really can't compare their actions IMO there is no excuse for physical assault...ever.

But the kids are now adults, we cannot blame our parents for our bad behaviour as adults. There is no way to justify both the brother's behaviour when they should know better. One even lives in the US but still treats his sister and wife like it's the stone age when he has seen how women should be treated, he even has a daughter. So is he going to treat his daughter this way too? Where do we even begin to justify assault and physical violence against your own sister.
The old man, can be forgiven to be a man of a different generation whose outlook on women is outdated but the brothers have no excuse at all. Plus he is old and has dementia.
If you see this, may you please let me know the title of the Book and the author. Thanks in advance.
Yeah, that's the thing about Asian drama. They always try too hard to make everyone forgive each other even in situations where they deserve jail time. I could maybe forgive the old man, but the brothers that's a stretch.

Thanks so much, you've been such a huge help. I managed to find a few Chinese websites with the book and it has about 101 chapters. I'm already on Chapter 4 using google translate of course not the best, but I'm loving it so far.
I'm actually surprised with some of the details of the book like mum being a nurse, which is not that clear from the series.

Thank you so much. Very sad that it's not translated. I saw that on Amazon it's only Chinese editions. I would have loved to read the story because I just feel it's one of those great stories that would take you on an emotional journey with the characters.
Do you mind spoiling the book ending for me? I will still try to find a Google translated version as well. All we can do at the moment, I guess.
You make it sound like you know all the Kdrama actors out there. You don't have to know her for her to be a popular…
Maybe, but the article clearly states which dramas the actress has been in. The logical conclusion is if you haven't watched any of the dramas how will you know who she is.? And if you don't know who she is you could still try find out or just say congrats. Better still...don't even comment!
I'm sure the article has a targeted audience, the people who actually care that she is getting married. Even after watching hundreds of Kdramas I don't know all the actors or actresses.
In the end, the daughter they mistreated ended up fixing/taking care of everything. It seems that's how life is…
This is one element I really hate about Asian dramas. A lot of Asian shows can never truly give justice to the victims because they put other issues like family, religion ( Buddhism,Taoism, Confucian ect) first. Even in extreme cases where someone deserves jail they will be made to have less consequences than normal. In some Thai shows they become a monk as if that changes everything. Pisses me off so much.
I have to watch this slowly because these misogynistic stories of loser brothers and mothers who don't treat their daughters well drive me crazy. But I will watch it to the end because I need something to be angry about at the moment.
One of the actresses with a very kind, innocent-looking face. She seems low-key even though she has starred in some popular dramas. So I'm surprised but Congrats to her!!
No idea who she is, haven't seen any of those projects listed, but congrats to her and her groom! 😍
You make it sound like you know all the Kdrama actors out there. You don't have to know her for her to be a popular actress. Not knowing her doesn't change anything especially since there are those who have watched her dramas and followed her work.
It was kind of boring at the beginning but then it gets better. I hate Gao and hate how just because he’s ill…
I agree with the Gao comment, such a lame excuse for everything.Wants forgiveness when he was actively working to make sure he makes his former best friend's life hell.
I never thought I would finish this drama, because I was not too fond of the beginning but it got entertaining…
It was so revolting for the bad guy to try and justify all his bad behavior and still emotionally blackmail them to have his way( I won't have the operation until Li Xun comes blah blah). If you're going to write bad guys make them evil and throw them off high buildings or the truck of doom. I also don't think people should forgive each other, especially after hurting each other like that. He betrayed his friend and was not loyal but forced his friend to his deathbed which made him appear so selfish and self-centred. I don't feel sorry for him and if I was the author, I was going to kill him off. The tumor was going to explode his brains, .
Hated his wife equally (Lina), what a weirdo. Married but obsessed with someone else, doing his dirty bidding.
I never thought I would finish this drama, because I was not too fond of the beginning but it got entertaining along the way. It had its moments and I found Li Xun's character a bit one-dimensional and such a big baby at times.
I was swooning and getting butterflies in the romance portion of this drama. The couple looks so hot and so good together. It will give you the feels whether you like it or not.
