Yes & not only in China actually, other part of Asian did that as well (marrying cousins), I don't get why they did that, but probably cousins were taken as far relatives rather than close one to them.
I've seen other "incest tag" drama like One hundred millions stars falling from the sky, but it hits different as both of them didn't know that they're connected that way, while in this drama at least one of the people involved should have been aware of that, not to mention it has the strongest blood relation, not only as siblings, but mother & son, lol

Rather than doubting his sincerity, I don't see why people can 't symphatize with him for having a problematic family & had to suffered since he was a kid.

His parent tried to abort him.
He loose his mom in his early days (4th grade).
His father took debts under his name when he's still underage & he had to deal with every problem his father got him into.

PBG known for his pure & honest side like every people around him always being so outspoken about it, how they adore & amaze by his kindness & sincerity.
Whether it's true he joins the cult or not, even if it's true, highlikely it's because he's being brainwashed since he's very little & his parent is the one at fault, he's an obedient son & caring person in nature.

To me PBG still is the most pure, kind & humble soul celebrity I've ever known & it's not coming only from how he behaves when he is in the spotlight, but from the people around him told his real personality like, how kind & sincere he is & it's being echoed everywhere, you can't fake that.
I'm grateful he was born & survive even after having gone through all of that & still manage to become of what he is right now.

Oh & if you're looking for a time travel drama similiar to Nine, I'd recommend a Taiwanese drama "Someday or One day"

Lol yes with their logic, I don't see what the fuss with the book of prophecy being missing either, they could go back to 1992 again earlier than TY&MH and create their new own universe, lol

Time travel aspect wise, imo this is nowhere near Nine, at this point as of ep 10 my expectation goes lower & lower if they could explain their rule properly & stick right through it.
Because they threw a bunch of idea but now the way they shown it, it's just messed up & the rule doesn't add up one and another, not to mention we got this disturbing romance they keep forcing in our throat instead (although I don't think they'll fully went that way, but still it annoys me how they choose to shot it that way & it brings down/degrading the whole drama itself to me).

It's a pity because I love their premise/ general idea/ plot itself but the directing is such a dissapointment.
Joo Won is great in here though, am still watching this for him & also for Lee Da In's acting & character (she is a discovery for me).

The age gap is not a problem at all. The point is she is his mother, or at least she had the same DNA & looks exactly like his own mother. How can we be fine? unless people normalized incest because like it or not they're blood related.

No need to interprete that scene too much, it's just a teaser of something that might happen on the next ep, I believe we'll see the full picture next week. It might be their sexual tension & he barely hold on to not get too carried away, if that's the suffering you're referring to, lol

Ep 2-4 I got it all wrong, like ... They can't be fake because they seems to be the most authentic one, but wew they really got me.
Now I feel stupid, lol


Btw, I'm amazed with the budget they have for this show, it must be huge to redesign all of those places with props included, train & cast all the staffs related & last but not least all of those six golds given each & every episodes, wow!

Seeing Hye Jun's omma & harabeoji reaction at Ep 7 ending makes me grinning like a chesire ×D

This drama reminds me of La La Land somehow, esp with that foreshadowing. I hope HJ-JH have a better ending than La La Land couple < /3.

I think I'm the only person here who weren't watching this for LDH.
Unlike most people who seems captivated by his character on Hotel Del Luna, I dislike his character there, haha.
And LDH isn't actually my type either (at least from me watching his reality show side on RM), so I started this drama purely because this is a remake of a movie that I love (love Zac too ofc) & because YSY is in here.
I had to say, it didn't dissapointed me.

I find it engaging & entertaining. First two ep were hilarious & I love LDH portrayal of HDY, or to be precise his "dad" side.
I'm in for a mature character in an 18th years old body, lol.

Although, am not sure if they have enough material for a 16 ep drama, hopefully they have.

While we're at it, I want to add some more too: touching hands unaccidentally & gazing at eachother right after, help the FL to get things that unreached by her while leans to her closely, catch the FL when she's passing out, hugging her every 2seconds, childhood thrope, having people around cheering at them as a couple, theme park date, taking selca together closely, staring at eachother when the lights was off, and the list might goes longer as we're still at ep 10 x'D

Waiting for next ep felt too long, at this rate I may have to rewatch Encounter again

True, I really like Lee Da In's acting & character here, she's such a discovery for me.

Without Do Yeon, Jin Gyeom won't be at his current state rightnow, she's the one who bring him out to the world, pull him out to be more open. They could have explore their relationship more, but instead we got this incesty romance more, lol.

Idk if it's because I'm already so weirded out by how they keep romanticizing TY-JG relationship that already grossing me out, but I find it hurts me more to see the broken relationship between JG & his foster father than any TY-JG supposed to be sad scenes including his dying moment.

Their directing choice has annoyed me that I couldn't care less about it, so eventhough TY-JG interaction took the most screentime I feel indiferrent.

I'm staying for Do Yeon-Jin Gyeom- Min Hyuk interaction which's imo the most interesting part even if it takes a very minimal screentime.

It's unfortunate how a directing flaw could ruin a potentially good drama like this.

Like, can't they settle it already which mechanism they used for their time travel things?
Is it multiverse? Or is it one time loop?
It makes no sense how they used it half & half.

Why no one has ever mentioned/asked why TY able to return to 2020 without using her time card?
Why Director Oh able to warned TY on 2021 if multiverse is the mechanism they used?

I thought TY shd be a more logical person since she is a physicyst, but it doesn't even ring a bell at her that she might be his mom or at least raise her curiousity at her, even when ppl already pointing at her multiple times how similiar she is to his mom, when she knew time travel does exist & when she knew the same person has been targeted them both JG's mom & herself.
Even Min Hyuk & Do Yeon were more quick witted than her, lol

It's too much of a coincidence if she's back at the exact same time when the time stopped, unless it's all JG doing as he has control over time.
