It was an arranged marriage from his mother side, they're not in love but it's a courtesy marriage w/ respect (real husband & wife tho quite distant), they wedded about 2 years before she passed away, no kids.

💯 I recognize red flags from miles ago, also it's hard to sympathize w/ his sad bg coz he's benefitting from his royal status & overused his title to bully others, hence it feels more like playing victim than the victim himself.

Honestly I read the novel halfway thru the end & I prefer the FL drama version over novel, but I agree on YX, if the writer intent to keep their friendship it shd be believable enough for viewers to buy

Agreed, the whip, the gun, the sword & so many things cause I'm not a masochist to find that kind of people who is easy to hurt others & never hesitate to bring trouble to his friend (like what he did repeatedly to her) are worth it to consider as friend, let alone precious. Like you said, an ally/confidant is more appropriate. precious friend is far reaching.

Like I said I don't mind with her shedding tears for him but cried that much and collapsing "for him" isn't align with her character's writing, if anything the writer shot themselves in the foot for ruining her character if her intention is like that.

As if it's not insulting enough to find a manchild who always brought her trouble & never hestitate to keep pointing guns, weapons & sword at her was considered as precious friend, I can't roll my eyes enough.

She said it like that coz YX wrongly took all the time they spent together as romantic so she make it perfectly clear that she only see him as friend, her first friend & she never refer it to her crying scenes.

To cry that much over a friend is too much & irrelevant to her character, shedding tears is okay, but that much cry will only ruin her character's writing (will become plotholes & I'd need to lower my rating for that alone).

But seeing it onscreen is different coz I can take all that cry and collapsing scenes coming from her shock after experiencing an emotional turmoil & a literal threat by sword in the neck by a person whom she consider as friend.

That's my thought when I saw it as spoiler but after seeing it onscreen (in the ep), I think rather than appear as she is overboadly taking his importance as friend (which's contrary to her character that has been written so far), I feel that YX emotional outburst had her in shocked/ like she didn't expect he'd went ballistic.
Coz before and after that scene you can see that she is firm with what her feelings towards YY so I'm taking it like that (similar if we experience/ get to see murderous intent/criminal scenes ourselves, we'll be in shock & collapse).
