Agree with you, I felt xukai is an actor who's not afraid to play unpopular types of characters/personalities. That's why to me in term of talent I consider him to have lots of potential, he said in interview if you have opportunities then why not use that opportunity, and he's not afraid of hardship that's why I admire his commitment to acting since I think he knows exactly what he wanted and that is using every opportunity he has to experience all kind of personalities ^^ In my opinion an introverted character is much more interesting compare to an extroverted character because this means a lot of times you can't understand what going on in that person head, so it's much harder to act out that type of character that why I find xukai being able to play these introverted characters and then also play just as well those extroverted characters, just show how much talent he has in understanding those different types of characters to give us so many memorable characters in his dramas ^^

I would say the best part of snow eagle lord was the relationship between main leads and their chemistry in my opinion was very good.

Story of yanxi palace and ancient love poetry are two other dramas I consider having the least problem in term of editing.

I like those two dramas you mention. There're other dramas of his that are just as good like story of yanxi palace, ancient love poetry, court lady and falling into your smile. Those dramas didn't have as much problems in term of editing or rush ending. I wouldn't say any of his dramas are bad I like his recent drama snow eagle lord and really like dongbo xueying character, but I agree with you he was a star so the production used him to promote other actors/actresses and in turn ruin these dramas since we watch the dramas for the main leads and not for support characters 😔

I think I'm use to dramas with many characters like story of yanxi palace, court lady, royal feast, arsenal military academy etc. They all tell a story and each character contribute to the story. The problem is when some support characters get too much screen times or are not written well, however if the writing for main characters are good then it still worthwhile for me since I didn't watch for support characters. For dramas of this type with 40 eps they have to put other characters beside main leads but let say compare to the legend or dance of the sky empire which has a higher rating than this drama, I like snow eagle lord much better, the relationship wasn't dragged and there's no love triangle. The main leads are strong and are not weakling, and they don't lose a fight just for stupid reasons.

Is douban rating important for a drama because I keep hearing xukai dramas being called trash just because they don't have a high rating on douban. However just the fact ancient love poetry and falling into your smile got such a low score made me not trust douban rating, I think it because of all those anti fans hating on the dramas and gave them low scores from the beginning. Also what with saying he's only stand out in story of yanxi palace, xukai even got best acting award for arsenal military academy, most of his dramas are good, the only reason why they're not getting as high a score has nothing to do with him but with the production not utilize him to their advantage, giving screen times to support characters. I hope for his future dramas, he will find better director and scripts that can fully utilize his marketability.

I didn't think it was that bad, maybe I have seen many more bad wuxia, but in my opinion the pros of this drama outweighs the cons. Good things I didn't watch for support characters because a few did get on my nerves, however main leads are the strong point of this show, watch for their relationship and their characters and I'm not disappointed ^^

Drama became much better after ji rong left, qing shi became much more tolerable. A good thing I didn't watch drama for them ^^

If you like watching main leads for the whole drama getting together and support each other then watch this. The fight scenes are great. If you like drama that focus lots on ml training and leveling up this is a drama for you. I also like sfl and sml relationship, sfl has feeling for ml but she didn't act on it, while sml like sfl but he was never jealous of ml and was patiently waiting for her to return his feeling. I also like the friendships between ml and sml, fl and sfl and other people he met. The males and females outfits are colorful and hairstyles make them all look attractive. I think ml and fl have the most outfits. They make a beautiful couple when they outfits match ^^

After rewatching the final fight, I like it much better without any expectations. So I noticed his ancient bloodline does play apart in this drama after all, he awoken it the first time when he loss his mother and then the second time when watching his friends and love ones getting injured and killed. That was really cool the effect for when his eyes became like fire when he awaken the second time. Also his final move true meaning of worldline that power I think is supposed to incapacitate his opponents making them unable to move so he can struck down his opponents with a single strike, that must be his most powerful attack. The final scene with jing qiu and his son is so sweet when the three walking together while the scenery was covered with snow ^^

Forgot to say xukai scenes with his mother are the best, the actress also played his mother in royal feast. They are convincing as mother and son, this relationship is so real and I felt heartbroken for him when he failed to rescue her from the enemies and then later when she sacrificed her life to trap the demon god. There was some plot holes in this drama that was never address like you yue never find out about her brother being killed by situ hong, and I still don't understand why knight changfeng agree to work with the demons, the excuse was due to they possessed his wife energy core, but even to the end it was never addressed if he got it back, and why didn't he tell any of the elders about the demons plan. The elders all died because they were betrayed and their deaths were kind of lame.

This one I would recommend as the best in my opinion when it comes to xanxia, the acting and plot is what attracts me to this drama. If you want recommendations you can check the above dramas under recommendations.
