The romance, action, writing, acting- so so good! Can we also take a moment to appreciate the divine shipping? Furong and Youlan were annoying when presented as love rivals (as if!) — but once they became shippers, they have been amazing characters! He’s trying to heal a god and keep secrets. And our Goddess is about to break her bro’s head to view the next installment of the romance from bro’s memories. She really is the Prez of XZ’s fan club! 😂😂

you know, I legit thought that the “tanned” look from yesterday’s previews would be because he’s healing an amped-up phoenix in pain and he’s getting roasted while healing her. She’s just so… hot 😁

I thought flying white/snow dragons were the rarest and most powerful in xanxia world (ref: TTOM and Love and Destiny) … black dragon is more common—so, those you cook, not good raw 😄😄.

Loved loved loved these two episodes today— and the series thus far. It’s so well written and ridiculously well acted.

The chemistry of the CP is unreal— if they existed in a real world, the aura of love and desire between this old god and his goddess of war would extend for miles around them (creating a horniness miasma?)

From the previews, tomorrow’s episode may answer what few have dared to openly ponder: what does stewed mermaid taste like? And will SL want a unicorn burger next? white dragon tartare? 🧐 🤔🤭

Cute drama, I love that the last ep gives the OTP plenty of time (solid 22 mins) to enjoy themselves after all the bs endured. But before that… do y’all get the sense that the tabby kitty went out and somehow murdered the entitled psycho ex to “fix” the “fate debt”… and then came back to play? Gangsta! 😳😳

I had no expectations and thus enjoyed the story (to the extent you can enjoy 8 episodes of the origin story of a human garbage detector
turned vigilante). I kept thinking that if he goes back to college and studies forensic pathology, he can become Korean Dexter (was I alone in this?)

🤣🤣🤣It’s killed less people bc WTOD’s new agency wants to redo its image to expand future roles (i.e. fights on the roof truck (Uncanny Counter)… mafia fixer moving torture house (Death’s Game)… place where two self-healing mutants have an all out fight (Moving)… etc).

She told him “I’m not Xu Nuo”… and he’s still trying to play checkers with a chess player 🤣. If he is honest, he would just fess up that he wants the social status of being her partner’s husband (and having a mega rich father in law) but would love to have Xu Nuo as his mistress who loves him so he can also have a fulfilling sex life. The fact that he is lying to himself that this is what he truly wants (because he does not want to admit to himself that he is a scumbag and not the “nice guy” he sells himself as being)… well, that’s his baggage to unpack.

The way I see it, the position of her husband has certain perks— being her working partner with equity is one of them. I don’t see it as blackmail when she says: “these are the perks that go to my husband, are you in or out?” If PYA doesn’t want it, then why should he continue to derive the benefits she created? She is not taking anything away from him— he will continue to be a junior shareholder. It’s just that he really over-valued his input (he worked hard… he would have worked hard regardless but would not have received such a rapid financial growth without her father’s money)… and she is giving him a reality check. In fact, I like how clear-cut she is with her terms and that she will not give him 10 years to enjoy the benefits she has provided without a firm commitment. Time is a currency and PYA treats it like he is the only one who can use it. I feel his partner just corrected his assumption but not really blackmailed him.

I also quite liked the writing in these episodes because it feels like PYA is getting his comeuppance. He has always used his better social status to define the terms of the relationship with Xu Nuo — there is always the subtle blackmail to her that if they break up, her family will not be improved. The fact that it is now being done to him, that his family’s upward mobility is being used and that he can no longer set the terms of when and how a relationship goes is probably humbling and infuriating for him. Good.

Obviously there are big cultural differences that explain why our FL is breaking up not just with a man but with a family. She is messy, messed-up, selfish and conflicted—all ingredients of a good drama character. However, in watching this, I cannot help but recall the immortal words of wisdom of Queen Bey:

“I can't care less what you think…I need no permission, did I mention? Don't pay him any attention…'Cause you had your turn but now you gon' learn what it really feels like to miss me…

'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it … Don't be mad once you see that he want it… If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it.”

State Official (bureaucrat) is his answer to Ruyi. He denies having been an escort or a paramour and even said he’s not handsome enough to do that. Based on everyone’s cover up, that denial is highly suspect 🧐🧐🧐

They’re going to murder a bunch of Red Guards together, like a couple in love should! 😍😍

I second all the love in this feed! This is by far my most fave story of a murder power couple and their journey to a healthy relationship of grown ups. Sure they plow through enemies and leave a trail of bodies behind… but work is work and love is love. I can’t wait until our CP builds their retirement love dungeon and our FL whips our ML for not taking out the garbage 😁😁 (also, the writers better give us a natural-assassin baby who’s just a whiz with knives and immune to poison).

This series is giving me everything: action, humor, romance, light palace intrigue. I’m now waking up to look for new chapters.

Also, was I alone in fearing for poor Miss Pei? The only reason our girl didn’t ride out to murder a letter-writing love rival was because her hit list has closer targets. These boys using jealousy games with Ruyi like she’s a palace maid is seriously misguided— it could end up bloody. And Boss Ning not messing around because his child’s mother wouldn’t like it? It was all awww and me thinking if he messes around Ruyi may whip him into agreeing to make more babies 🤣🤣🙄

Yup. When he kneeled to take a beating you know she insta-ovulated on that spot.

LionESS… I mean, she TOLD him all he had to do was lie there like a lion and she’d take care of the rest like the lioness she is 🤣🤣🤣

But I’m especially loving the FL and her feral rawness. She may just kill our ML with her White Sparrow “practice” and then not touching him until he’s ready to be her Baby Daddy. Our master spy handler may die of blue ba…ahem… blocked qi 🤣🤣.

Ep 12 and I’m loving this drama thus far. Writing is solid, story pace good, CP chemistry works, humor AND fight scenes with anime frame pauses… loving all of it.
