You are right. There is much to love in this drama. If they had concentrated on Sheng Yang and Jian Bing's developing…
Right? I love the ad guys and the creative process and the people involved with it. The parents are mostly ok. I can only assume that hockey trio is part of some nepo casting by a producer relative. It’s like someone spliced their parts/script into a cute noona/workplace romance and made it weird.

This drama has good bones, but it’s filled with annoying people and unnecessary angst. When the main CP are on, it’s a charming, work-heavy slow burn (glacial slow) romance.

Sadly that’s 60% of the drama. There is a disproportionate amount of time allotted to annoying people: 1) cheating, unattractive and older husband hypocritically interfering with FL associating with younger ML hottie (and FL patiently tolerating this bs); 2) 20 yr old sister at music school who has been a brat butting in and attempting to monopolize her older sister’s marital availability (and FL patiently tolerating this); 3) clueless Uncle Fang imposing himself and his unwanted attention on FL (and she quietly and politely tolerating this).

By ep 29 the story should be described as “26 yr old handsome creative has inexplicable crush on 36 yr old soft spoken director who is nice to him but whose main attribute seems to be her ability to quietly tolerate everyone and allowing pretty much anyone to question and interfere with her life choices .”

Did not drop bc I’m shallow and ML is eye candy. After ep 20-something, I pretty much F-forwarded everything that did not have the ML in it. I wish this had better writing for these two leads.

This was the drama equivalent of staying in on a rainy day by a cozy fire with a great book while sipping the perfect cup of hot chocolate. I do not remember ever feeling this relaxed after watching a drama— no love triangles or psycho exes, no weird ML malady or a FL being a bumbling idiot with weird ruffled outfits. This was a slice of life drama that showed the slow build up of a dreamy romantic relationship every girl yearns for. It had strong female friendships and multigenerational exchanges set in a place with great scenery… and so much good food. The CP had an easy, natural chemistry and great communication; the other characters were well developed and there was a wide range of personalities. Grannies and children were adorable. I would highly recommend this if you want to pleasantly disconnect your mind for a couple of hours a day.

Title Hi Venus
Intelligent professionals who develop a healthy relationship by communicating? Young CEO who is not cold and borderline sadist but caring AND intelligent? In-Laws that are supportive and nurturing? Leads that grow and mature and learn to trust organically? Rich man/poor girl class problems that are addressed on-screen? All of this was soooo much “yes please!” My emotional center felt like it had a nice cup of cocoa after watching this drama. I also loved the second couple— and how a web romance writer debunked all the usual drama tropes 🤣. Well written, well acted, would definitely recommend.

They should've stuck to a cheesy romance drama instead of trying to add in the thriller/mystery angle because…
My thoughts exactly!

WTF did I just watch? The “full” story is so nonsensical that it requires a lobotomy (not just missing brain cells). This is a wreck of a story— I watched until episode 12/13 for the reveal of his identity… and (like any wreck watcher) continued by fast-forwarding to see how bonkers it all gets until end.

The gist of all of this (SPOILER)….. is that the ML is (admittedly a hottie) the missing full biological brother of the dead heiress, not her fiancé and he could have stepped up at any time to claim his inheritance and run the company. Basically, the FL is not needed at all because ML could have taken a DNA test at any time and he has great business skills— and it’s easier to have the REAL missing grandson appear than creating a fake missing granddaughter. The “ruse” of having a doppelgänger for first 12 eps is just a plot device to keep viewers guessing. . . I had to stop watching after seeing that this is basically an incest-like story (handsome man falls in love with a woman with his estranged sister’s face???). ML is a great kisser— until my brain went “ewwww, sister” and continued hitting the fast-forward button. The other bonkers plot holes are so large that one, no two, trucks-of-doom can drive through.

Kudos to the actors for reading this wreck of a plot and still showing up to work. Male lead is eye candy and a good actor… and is trying really really hard to sell this. He was wasted on this.
