Ep 29… oh my feels! Sniff.. sniff…girls, find you a man who vanquishes your enemies, builds you a magic garden and literally sets fire to all your special places after assigning all his assets. Also Ep 29: you might be a baby-faced tyrant emperor but your ex is a cold blooded demon queen who wants you back 😈😈

…but whose “career” is not making people explode or who’s not the most terrifying man in 3 realms due…
the drama cast them as cousins. But in the novel, the celestials were looking for “purity” and bred brother and sister like livestock. The super dark part of the novel that would never pass censorship is that when SJ’s father died after the clan was wiped out, his mother killed herself to prevent further breeding with her own son.

I hope god blesses all my girlieess here a man like Sima Jiao 😭🤌🏻❤️
…but whose “career” is not making people explode or who’s not the most terrifying man in 3 realms due to torture, inbreeding an/or genocide trauma (prayer/wishing specificity matters girls!)

If your man doesn’t bring the mountains to you then that ain’t enough girl 😂
Brings his torture mountain to you… and then gives you a sky lantern turned meteor shower show after feeding you, giving you a facial and letting you sleep all day?!? If he had given her a foot massage too I may have fainted from envy

Is it just me or does anyone else find SJ’s forehead pilot light adorable? Sure when he’s lit things/people…
Also, way to progress in being less murderous!! Demon Lightbulb boy would have been dusted if he had not met LTY

Is it following the novel mostly faithfully so far? Do you think the ending will be similar? What is ruling like…
After he blows up the mountain, the world becomes chaotic. He does what he always does, walks in and takes over the demon realm. The FL has amnesia and is living in the demon world— per the novel it takes a while for him to find her but he does.

But they may adapt the second arc differently. There are some characters that were added for the drama (2 FL and her sister) that were not in the novel.

Surprisingly it is following the novel’s arc but with some improvements. I don’t remember Ruling in the first part of their story… and I remember the snake becoming human and his adopted son further along. We’re nearing the end of the first arc of their story and there have been changes. The ending happens in the mortal realm— if they are following the novel, the ending should be similar

Is it actually dual cultivation or mental?
Dual cultuvation tends to be mental. She’s his “night pillow” but mostly because every night he hangs out in her mental palace and sleeps there (rests his consciousness?):)
On When Destiny Brings the Demon Aug 20, 2025
I read the novel and I am pleasantly surprised by the drama adaptation so far.

For those looking at the FL as weak, wait to see her development. She started out as a corporate slave who was transmigrated into Xanxia world and just wanted to be “salted fish”— get paid, sleep, eat. Both the book and the drama convey this well. As she cultivates, she begins to live in this new world.

I really like how the drama developed the ML. In the book he’s a tad unhinged—but in the drama his murderous streak is explained.

What’s not 100% explained in the drama but it is in the book is how the FL accidentally went all up into his inner palace and unknowingly started dual cultivation… with him then going into her palace at night because it was sunny and calm and not alll murderous like his and it afforded him better sleep (the lowest key bowchicicawow moment in a novel 🤣🤣)

Right?!? And later in the series, she falls from another great height with minimal damage. My guess is that she’s…
She DID!! and in that drama, I marveled at her bladder control and ability to stand for hours. But if a robot had plunged down a mountain there would be bits and bolts everywhere! A normal human would be in traction and looking at months of rehab… but in this show? It’s main character halo and the power of knowing you still want to crank call your aloof husband to mess with his head.

Title When the Phone Rings Spoiler
Enjoyed overall better than average 8.5/10 from me.I thought the last episode was a bit weak though. He disappears…
Juan was the old man’s fixer/body disposal man… the child is an illegitimate son he parked there until he could figure what to do with him (maybe Mom died? ditched? sold him to the old man?). I guess murdering psychopath grandson gave the family patriarch a way to secretly bring the illegitimate son into his family and raise him himself. In one episode, it’s discussed how much he was doted on and was almost raised by his grandfather.

Damn. Episode 6. The girl is indestructible haha Up to this point I was kind of entertained by this show for socoipaths,…
Right?!? And later in the series, she falls from another great height with minimal damage. My guess is that she’s one of the undiscovered mutants from “Moving” with regenerative powers… because anyone else would be in a body cast for months 🤣🤣

Tsundere presidential press secretary in relationship with sign language introvert who use a kidnapper’s phone in lieu of marriage counseling to talk to each other. This was a story about two people who were raised by rich garbage human beings and grew into emotionally damaged adults who are good at their jobs but fail miserably at being in a “normal” marriage. And it made for a great K Drama!

Did the story have plot holes? yup. Illogical places where you just screamed at the screen “um… run his ass over, problem solved”? Sure. An indestructible FL who can fall from great heights and not be in traction but only suffer adorable band-aid scratches? Check. Mandatory late-in-series K drama separation? yup. Misunderstandings that could have been fixed by one conversation? a ha…

So what? it was still well acted, had decent production values and some great scenic shots of Seoul. The biggest plus is chemistry of the CP is 🔥🔥( longing looks, steamy kisses, none of that wide eyed dead fish kissing, etc). I enjoyed this and would recommend it.

Title Love Scout
Liked & EPIC - "uteruses are reserved for husbands". Please share some tips of your writing skills. I am envious…
Aww thanks!! The key to being a good writer is to be a discerning reader and write what comes to mind; what you enjoy. Too many social inhibitors in your internal monologue tend to create hesitation when you write.

Just be you and kick your internal censors to the curb (not all of them though… hold on to the ones that keep you out of jail or from openly stabbing annoying people)

Title Love Scout
Virgos and people who love The Container Store have a new fantasy man to drool over!! Imagine idol good looks AND Marie Kondo organizing powers in one man!! Is the ML a handsome divorced dad who can fill a suit? yes… but did you see his closet? pantry? the toy storage? school schedule? dicing skills? ability to fix a door?!? The producers exchanged the usual shower shot with an orderly house and perfectly organized office… and I was surprised that it was equally swoon-worthy for me.

4 eps in and this office romance between a chaotic female CEO and her male assistant feels fresh (role reversal) and tropey (long eye stares, hand contact making everyone embrassed, aunties who become moms and are not real single moms because uteruses are reserved for husbands, etc). She’s a workaholic mess with emotional trauma and is one coffee cup from a breakdown… he’s an order genie (let’s face it, what he can organize, color code and label in the time allotted is magic not just order) who needs this job to support his adorable daughter.

Worth watching thus far… Virgos you’ll know when to hit the slow mo on this one 🤪🤪

Title The Judge from Hell Spoiler
Loved the acting and the chemistry of this show. It had suspense, humor, drama and romance— from a pure entertainment…
First, no judge would preside over a case of her ex-boyfriend without being recused for conflict of interest. Same as when a witness knows the judge— conflicted out. If no recusal, you have high chances of reversal of judgment on appeals.

Second (my biggest nit) in S Korea the statute of limitations for murder was abolished in 2015 (as with most world countries). You prosecute a murder when you find the evidence in most world jurisdictions. This was a big sticking point for 12 serial murders that allegedly could not be punished— there is no such statute of limitations.

Third, if you kick a defendant’s lawyer out of the courtroom the trial stops until counsel is present for a defendant (otherwise it’s a mistrial)… aaand most sentencing is done in stages- first a defendant is found guilty and then there’s a new proceeding to determine the punishment for guilt.

There were more nits that took me out of the series in the trial parts that I wish the writer would have researched and written better or actually spoke to a practicing attorney (annoying in US legal series as well)

Ultimately, I know it’s fiction and a show… I just wish the writing was better researched so that I can cheer loudly for a kickass demon judge :)

Loved the acting and the chemistry of this show. It had suspense, humor, drama and romance— from a pure entertainment POV it was chef’s kiss!

If I had one (kinda large) nit with this show it was lazy research/writing that made the “reality” part of show nonsensical (granted this is a show that has demons and angels and hell as a real place)Spoiler-full observation below:
