The production team has really put in a lot of love, attention and care into this drama. I am really happy for them that it is doing so well, receiving both strong ratings and critical reviews. Most of the time, I notice that Xianxia genre tends to get split reviews, so LBFAD positive reviews are exceptional. Fleshing out the different characters and giving them sufficient backstory and development really help make audience care for each character and the story. Yes, I saw the "statue open its eyes" post and was amazed at those details! In a way, it was a blessing in disguise that LBFAD was an underdog, so the team really ensured they do not drag the storyline, making each moment counts. It made the plot so tight and engaging, and each cliff hanger is so well done. I hope they make some special episodes, or maybe a director's cut of the drama. I am more than happy to watch more LBFAD!

Drama taste is very personal, so usually I look for reviewers who have similar POV as mine to decide which to watch. My first watch of LLTG didn't last one episode, but I am gonna try again cuz want to see if I can get into it since it's so popular. Some of my fav dramas have received less than stellar reviews from popular reviewers too, so yeah can understand why some are hurt by it. But I cannot condone those who question the "biasness" or "taste" of avenuex just because she doesn't give positive review of a drama they love. She is just saying her own take and POV.

I’m not sure if we have the same drama taste. I was watching mostly Kdramas but there’s been a dearth of good Kdramas lately. My top fav Cdramas are Nirvana In Fire and Joy Of Life. NIF is full of complex political intrigue & deep characters (probably my top drama of all time. While Joy of Life is also complex in its plot but so well written and very funny! Both are not romance focused . Also love the recent A Dream of Splendor which was the drama that brought me back to Cdrama land.

Yes absolutely! She’s pretty picky but I’ve agreed with most of her drama reviews so far. So I just HAD to check out LBFAD. And she was absolutely spot on in her review! (For me)

Just signed up for Mydramalist so I can comment here! It’s been awhile since I’ve fallen for a Xianxia drama. I usually run away from this genre lol! Tried many and didn’t last 20min. The last one I enjoyed was Ten Miles Peach Blossom. But I was curious after I watched Avenuex positive review. And oh boy, I was immediately sucked into the story from episode 1! It’s funny as hell and yet very heartfelt at the same time. The story and script is so well-written, very tight plot with no fillers, beautiful CGI/ props/costume and great directing. And the acting is so good esp the ML and FL, plus 2ML and supporting characters. Dylan Wang really hit a home run in this show and I also love Esther Yu’s cute yet strong minded portrayal. 2ML Chang Heng is so swoony too. And villain Rong Hao is complex and well developed.

The story actually reminded me a bit of the manga/ anime Inuyasha. It’s also about how the FL accidentally freed the half-demon god Inuyasha. And she was able to control him cuz of this magic stone inside her. And later we found out she is the goddess. Very interesting parallel.

I can’t wait for the final 6 episodes and will also be sad when it finishes. I’m rewatching it now and noticed so many details I’ve missed. Btw it’s going to be on Netflix!!
