Exactly. This case just doesn't vibe the same. And I also think the actress they chose is not the best one to bring this role to life. The acting is not there. But then again, this character lacked the depth that other supporting characters had so what more can the actor do.

I do enjoy the mythical beast elements of STOTD. That's like their signature move. Also, wow I didn't know about the white elephant. Interesting fact!

I heard some rumours online that they wanted to promote the actress in this case, thus the extra screentime, but this is THE Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty. They don't do that that kind of stuff right? So who knows.

For me, S3 has been really could! But it doesn't to compare to S2. I heard the director for this season is not the one that worked in S1 and S2 and IDK, it's just missing that polish that S2 has. Cases this season have also been predictable. But I love this series so I'll take what I can get. And to your point, yes this show is far better than other shows currently airing. This is one of two shows this year where I keep up with the daily episodes. I even bought iQiyi just so I can watch it in 4K, hah!

I get it! It's just I enjoyed S1 and S2 bc they kept the politics brief. But at this point in the story, it's a turning arc and there's no avoiding the conflict I gues... I enjoy watching them solve cases and helping the common people vs embroiling in court politics.

If she was the only one coming onto him, sure. But he was coming onto her as well so I can't excuse that. And he doesn't do even do any of these with his girlfriend.

But anyways, I just needed to calm myself down a bit lmao. Also, I know NOTHING about the conflict surrounding this time period, only that the nephew came out on top so that's probably why I'm not super invested in the politics.

I'm honestly just fatigued by all the politics in cdramas. One of the things I enjoyed about STOTD is that they keep it brief. I like the case-solving and the focus on helping the little people vs the people on top. But at this point I guess it's unavoidable.

P.S Ying Tao coming exclaiming "Trying to use hidden needles on me?" When she's a master at the hidden needle technique got me so hyped!!!

And he doesn't address her in any weird way or try to come on her which I appreciate 😌 So far she's the only one taking the initiative

Yes, super reminiscent of the Inn case. Tbh all cases so far have been really lack luster but this one especially felt weird and bizarre for me.
