Some good points, but the FL isn't 'naive' as she literally puts a 'gu' on him (a spell?) to entrap him into her plan so that her poison can be lessened. There's no good, main characters in this tbh.

YZX can act, though! He is very typecast at the moment however.

There's a lot of red flag, historical MLs this year, I lost track! Broken the Heart, Enslaved by Love, Passionate Love, Part for Ever, Flower in the Mirror etc. Expect more before the year is over!

I find the FL more of a issue because of her blank, unexpressive face at emotionally deeper moments, even when she's alone or around people she trusts. It's giving me JJY flashbacks from In Blossom.

Why rate something that hasn't finished? I typically wait until its finished airing for the rating to update.

I see the same comments fangirling under historical C-dramas profile pages and I wonder how some can so easily forget how despicable his character is ?
Some excuse it with: 'its a drama', 'it's historical' etc but I'd reply that dramas shouldn't try and humanise a thieving , kidnapping, murderous rapist as that senda a terrible message and since when are these 'idol' dramas typically historically accurate?
They have the FL changing hair and clothes in an illogical way when her belongings have been stolen, so even continuity is ignored in favour of aesthetics in this and many similar dramas.

There's a scene in episode 7 when she's in a flashback with her deceased mother where she's like a human mannequin! Just the most stilted acting. No wonder her looks are played up so much as she's all fur coat and no knickers.

The supporting cast are much better, even some of the servants.

Well said. I thought I was going crazy for thinking that the ML was wooden and bland, but nope I was seeing it for what it is.
There should be a spark between them, like in Rising Feather but there's nothing there from his side.
Such a shame when the actress is so skilled but she's not got someone oppossite her on the same level to play off of. Like listening to a duet but only one singer can sing 😞
These dramas have such similar clichés that strong chemistry is barest minimum of things to expect but this has me grasping at straws, looking for a secondary couple to ship. What a shame.
