I don't take her reviews as the gospel, I realized I didn't always agree with her so why let one person be the judge and jury of dramas. We all have different tastes.

The mum wasn't strictly avenging for her with the aunt situation she even said stay out of elders grudges. And CSS said I have my own grudge. She was avenging the aunt for herself, the fact that the aunt forced her to leave a child using the Old Fairy or something sorry forgot the name as an excuse. I don't think he was seriously saying the qualities he likes, he was just mocking her. He was just saying the virtues that were expected of a girl in that period. He doesn't want to be stuck in a standard marriage it sounded like when he spoke to that lady who watched him grow, which being with Yangyang would be.
