SHM knows exactly what he is doing when he gives the gift, what emotions it invokes in her. She didn’t help at all get the deal but it’s a good excuse to keep her entangled in his world.
The exciting part of this story in a way is, SHM thinks he has everything under control but he will find himself in love with someone he thought was just his pawn.

He is a very interesting character.

When he was dealing with Zhou, I got the feeling he was enjoying it, calmly telling his assistant to make him sweat when he was working on that wooden house.

He is not waiting for her to confess though, he clearly stopped her from confessing twice in ep11. Even though she lied he knows what the lie is and has helped her maintain it. He needed a contract marriage for his needs really, he was not in the dark about her past. Him knowing what the lie is, not allowing her to confess is actually a form of mental torture.

Right! He was better off looking for someone to have contract marriage with! Least the woman would not be expecting love back.

SH already knows the friend is her. He subtly shuts her down, because the words he chooses makes her scared to lose him if she comes clean, which they cannot have a real relationship if there are things between them. He doesn’t want her to come clean.

I am going to judge ML and change my mind as more information is given lol. It’s fun for me to experience the emotions the drama gives me at a given time.
Right now I think his manipulation is worse than FL, it is not equal.

FL lied about her parents not about the love she feels for him. He has known from the very beginning her truth and he chased her to fall in love with him not the other way. It’s not a win, win situation because FL wants love not money and ML wants the perfect image. Love cannot be truly achieved without the lies being exposed, and FL wants to be truthful but he does gently shut her down at the same time gives her subtle hints on how he expects her to behave.
It would be a win win if all FL wanted was money.

She is not there for wealth at all. And he did shut her down a couple of times episode 11. First was when she was trying to tell him not to invest before the got into the car after golf and second when she opened the conversation with “my friend”. He told her it should be hidden and on another occasion he told her he doesn’t want her to think about anything else but just smile. We have heard his mother speak the smile line to him before , so we know where he gets that from.

Glad Lucifer sent Zhou to hell, I mean jail🤣

It’s the fact that he is not getting rid of the troubles out of love, it’s more about controlling the perfect world he has made for himself.
He actually doesn’t want her to confess and have an open and honest relationship. He wants to be able to control her through those lies. He watches what she does, makes these unsettling comments, for example about don’t sell your car for investments. Yet squashes her efforts to come clean, so then she is anxious all the time, which creates distance between them. He wants to have leverage to control her, he encourages her to use him and his money it will eventually be like a prison if you get used to all those perks that only he can provide her.

Teaser for episode 16 is looking fun and more relaxed. I am going to miss the ice queen!

We already know what would happen. XY is already getting that, XY is probably getting worse than QL would have actually, because she wasn't born with a heart problem. She wasn't abandoned when born.

I think it’s not as simple as she didn’t talk much. I think it’s the different love and parenting they received. Generally if you are shown love and support you will be confident and free to speak your mind. But if you are shown you do not matter, you do not have the confidence to speak up. When she cut herself she screamed out but they both ran to her sister. There are two parents there but both went to the sister. When she spoke up about college she was slapped. Yet her sister is given chances to fail. She has been conditioned to not speak up, and her sister was brought up in a way she could be whatever, and would still be loved, as they always put her first. XY was brought up like an orphan, yet her parents were right there, makes it even worse. She caused them no trouble, nothing she could have ever done could have made them show her a bit of love, being outspoken or not, even if she had cure for cancer they wouldn’t have ever cared . They would say the sister is the one who found the cure 🤣
Her parents abandoned her when she was born and continued to abandon her when she was living with them, she will always have that fear of abandonment, will be understandably closed off because of it and careful in how she presents herself.

I am looking forward to how Zhou Ze Yuan is going to be dealt with! I wonder will it be XY or SHM to take him down, he has messed with the wrong ones! Inviting himself to dinner eek. You will be fish food soon. SHM is scary, you don't want to mess with him!

My favorite relationship in this drama is XY and Haochen! Bless him, he even knew to apologize for his bad behavior.

Wish this life was real for XY, you can see though that SHM is truly not in love with her yet. When he bought the car, she was clear all she wants was him, but he really is transactional. He probably thought he could control her with money and power. It's really going to hurt when she finds out the love was one sided.

Yes, I almost wish the SML was for XY. His interest in her seems so pure and real.
He could finally get the girl he missed out on their previous drama together 😂
