I guess formulaic shows with the 'right kind of leads' (wink wink) is like a comfort zone - we watch them to feel relaxed, content and happy without being challenged too much....while new kinds of content is like a discovery - exciting, intriguing and energising, but with an element of uncertainty that is a distinct move away comfort

Exactly....there a hundred other things that a 'university student' can be caught up with/focusing on in their lives, other than romance.....and then again, even if they have romance in their lives, a certain story about them can very much focus on a different aspect of their life without needing to be apologetic that why is it not focusing on the romance!
My take is - you either like it or you don't. You may express your opinion on it for sure, but there's very little that you can do to change the takes of others and you need to let others be without trying to cancel them.
Sigh! Aren't we all caught up in our own loops and constantly putting on that lens to look at everything! The result is that we end up seeing only that what we want to see...and a lot of the times that is dictated by our own insecurities and triggers ....which then tends to drive our perceptions, truths and politics....anyway, that's just human I guess.

Being from Asia, I can not but note that white people, with blue eyes, blond hair, are still considered 'more desirable' in most cases and spaces....possibly a hangover of the colonisation in large parts of Asia...even if its not the white race, a fairer skin is usually more desirable in most of our cultures and societies...I think somehow the Asian gaze has been conditioned to look at 'fairer' as 'superior' for centuries, both within our own cultures and then as a direct fallout of the colonisation....now I'm not sure if the production-direction team of this show explicitly wanted to flag this narrative on colourism in their story or not, but it very much exists in our societies and may be Bua's character was a nod to that, among other things
Also, personally I feel that we need to accept migrants in our societies, no matter where they are from, albeit without diluting the narrative on power imbalances that various races have, and hence agree to your possible point on 'visibility'.....and then there is the question of intersectionality of race and queerness....usually, I would not want to 'other' someone just because they are from another country or race...unlike how the white race and western nations and cultures continue to do...even when they have been the immigrants (and plunderers) in innumerable countries and societies.
Would I have liked if Bua was from another Asian country/race? I think that'll be great, but the dynamics and script then has to change accordingly....

I hear you.....when we have someone we love/look up to, say things to put us down, it scars us forever....no matter why they do that....whether they had their own struggles and fears that makes them take it out on us...and even if we allow for such rationale at a later stage in life, those are wounds that never quite heal completely...but yes, we find ways to live with them...and I'm happy to learn that you also got past most of it....even if you get triggered again at times, know that it happens to most of us who experienced similar situations, and it is likely that we will be able to spiral out and back up again...hugs!

Oh! the angst, the almost-heartbreaks, the tension....almost killed me....ha ha! I loved, loved, loved this show...frankly, even if this had to have a heartbreaking finale, I would still love it ....maybe even a tiny-winy bit more than a happy ending (that masochist in me...lol). But so glad that it's a happy one....🥰
Yes, you could say that I'm a BL addict...ha ha...but even beyond that, I love Asian drama.
Its quite understandable that the producer of this show would target it at a Thai-only audience, but thanks to BLs I have now come to love Thai shows, including the culture, tropes, and language...so yes, a big supporter of Thai entertainment industry....among the non-BL Thai shows/movies that I have watched, 'How to Make Millions Befor Grandma Dies' really really impressed me...I had started watching it because of Bilkin (I had loved him in the BL ITSAY) but ended up really floored by that movie...similarly when I saw that this has Pond in it, and it has an interesting storyline, I wanted to watch it even though it isn't a BL,...but couldn't find a subbed version.
Lol..as a self-proclaimed BL-fanatic, I totally get what you mean... I have been eyeing this for sometime...but just don't seem to find a subbed version...any clues to that end?
