I totally agree with you ?? I think that this drama is one of the best ! When I started this show I didn’t expect…
Thanks for a kind comment and sharing your thoughts! I know the pain about the subs. In Poland, only the first three seasons are translated, so I have to find the time to translate the rest for my mom who also loves Doctor X, but does not understand English.
You're right. The special episode was a bit weak.I also like Mamoru "Kin-chan" Hara, but no. 1 in my heart is…
Let's just say his confidence boosts whenever Director Hiruma is not around. (Nevertheless, I liked that he shook up in Series 6 finale and did the right thing).
And here I am loving her for that. hahahaIf I remember well, she wasn't like this in 35 Kokosei. No idea about…
If it would have been otherwise, just imagine this: *Director giving Ryoko some intructions on the set* *Ryoko looks at him enraged with her wide eyes* "Baka! Watashi, shippai shinai no de!" and she walks away in her stylish walk xD
Thank You for the article. There are lots of interesting things and fun facts. Yet, I have some complaints and…
Ok, everyone has the right to their own opinion. To me, House M.D. and Doctor X are two completely opposite extremes. House takes up cases just because he likes riddles (one painful episode "Lockdown" even emphasizes this concept). Daimon, on the other hand, repeatedly states that she just wants to save as many lives as possible. Indeed, you raised some thought-provoking concepts, but I do not think that House M.D. is the direct inspiration behind Doctor X.
Of course, as it is stated at the end of every drama, this is a fictional story. Just as you wrote, Daimon can serve as a relief for real world employees, but (in my opinion) she also has a motivational function (that is, each indivdual can better himself). Now, I'm getting into the spoilers, but in the penultimate episode of Series 6, she (quite despairingly) explains what she means by saying every time "Watashi, shippai shinai no de". To me, Daimon is not a Greek demi-god (even though her name may imply that) but more like a Jungian hero archetype. She is very much human, she cares for other people, she is afraid, but each time she tries to overcome the darkness by giving her best. Not only Series 3, but also Series 6 gives a glimpse of her past. She basically survived hell like from "Apocalypse Now". That is why she does not want to lose.
Well, I don't know if Ryoko hates playing Doctor X, but if that were truly the case, then it would have transpired in her performance. By wishing her more Doctor X seasons, I do not want to limit her as an actress. It is her own career and she has the right to do whatever she wants.
If you think I'm wrong, then I can't argue with your opinion. I just saw more of a connection between Doctor X and other medical dramas out there than with mythology.
PS Interesting medical cases are what got me into the show and, in my view, this factor stays strong throughout Series 1-6.

Hold on :) I have seen a couple of interviews with Ryoko and she seems to be very reserved and modest. I guess that the managers try to brand her as a rebel, but she is not like that in real life.
Impressive article. I've watched them all except season six. I liked all of it a lot except episode 1 and the…
